I'd rather that than some old man being "down with the kids", making something incredibly stupid, and making me grimace to the 8th dimension.
Because internet memes are basically jokes I think it's not impossible to monetize them but staying on the bleeding edge of memes are of course, impossible.
They still do sell good stuff, you just have to do a bit of digging.
with the way that memes are going all you need to put on a shirt is static

Buy my fuckin meme shirt
I'm glad Spurdo hasn't caught on or been corrupted
Memes are like sand mandalas. They're beautiful for a fleeting moment, before being blown away into meaningless dust, occasionally accidentally inhaled and sneezed out by pop culture nostrils like late night talk shows and out-of-touch advertisers.

I wonder if memes will ever achieve sentience via emergence
Meme's
Yeah, it's Meme'ses'
Good.
Some businesses here in Sweden use memes in their advertisements on the web, or rather base their advertisements on memes.
We did it reddit!

I've seen surprisingly many little kids wearing a Problem? -trollface shirts and a dabbing-themed shirts. I've also seen doge on some fairly obvious anime-fans handbag too.
I get incredibly bothered when I see stuff like that.
Haven't the Keep Calm posters been a thing since forever? Pretty sure they predate memes.
That is also a government owned company...
Kids these days am I right
Only a fool would try to monetize a pre-existing meme. Smart advertisers know that they have to create their own.
They need to stick to the ol' reliables is what they need to do!

They predate memes being known as a concept but that doesn't make them not a meme
Good. Hopefully that'll stem the flow of bullshit merch like those Emoji cushions and movie.
I've been working at a summer camp the past two years and man kids these days are so heavy into memes that I just do not care about. I feel like an old man trying to understand pokemon.
I still like trollface
tbqh i would probably buy a doublesided allover print shirt that was just TV static if it were of good quality

there was a sort of middle ground between ye olde memes and the weird shit that comes around today where a lot of absolutely timeless memes came out, like gal o sengen
We're in the age of the postmodern meme imo. Classic memes would always end up getting forced and stretched to squeeze new material in there - like when people started putting entire life stories into 'advice animals' and it looked ridiculous. But with 2018 memes like jealous gf and 'is this x', part of the joke is the fact that it's ridiculously forced and you could put any text in there. Like that's builtin from day one somehow. I can't really envision what a 'forced' version of the jealous gf meme would look like, cus it already is forced from the start and that's why it's funny.
He would also have been executed for racism (over 9000 counts), terrorism and crimes against humanity.
