• Star Wars TLJ's Kelly Marie Tran leaves social media after months of harassment

It doesn't even matter if an actor's or actress' performance is good, they don't deserve this kind of abuse.
It's kind of depressing to think that a lot of Star Wars fans don't appear to have actually taken in any lessons from Star Wars - letting go of anger, showing compassion etc.
Reminds me of people hating on Jesse Heisenberg for his portrayal of Lex Luthor in BvS. Its not his fault that the writers and director wanted that kind of direction with LL character, but nah, even here on FP been hating on Jesse for his apparent shit acting which was probably out of his control, same as it was with Anakin and Hayden.
There's two separate issues here assigning blame to the wrong people i.e. the actors rather than writer harassing people because you didn't like a movie about spaceships shooting lasers at each other #1 is not really a big deal, people can debate it and if someone's wrong about it then it's not really the end of the world. #2 is just batshit, whether you blame the writers or the actors or whoever, no one deserves to be harassed over something so dumb
Sounds like the path of the weak and arrogant Jedi. Let the hate flow through you!, anger will make you stronger! with every abusive tweet you shit out, you move closer to your ultimate destiny! of being a total fucking loser who harasses the actors of characters they didn't like
I'am I the only one who liked Rose's character? As well as The Last Jedi in general?
Probably

I liked TLJ and Rose

I did like both and I can't seem to understand the disproportionate ammount of hate they both get, yes a few Rose moments were hamfisted and unnecessary but as a whole it wasn't that bad, and even less deserving of this level of harrassment. It reminds me of the actors of Joffrey or Ramsey from Throne of Games getting shit because of their characters but up to eleven. About TLJ itself it seems people were either expecting a repeat of Empire Strikes Back (or the second coming of Jarjar Christ) or probably they're just parroting cynical reviews/people like RLM
The fanbase has honestly always been one of the best and absolutely the worst part of the star wars universe
Or maybe it was a below average movie? I honestly don't get how anyone could straight up like TLJ, but I'm not gonna call you a blind fanboy for it.
The Simpsons as always made this observation ages ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtdEeI-B21A
The Star Wars fandom seems to be the movie equivalent of the Metallica fandom, in the sense that both seem to loooooooove talking about what part of it they hate.
"I don't know how anyone could disagree with me?"
I always joke to my brother that he's not a real Star Wars fan because he doesn't hate Star Wars.
hopefully we get some good warhammer 40k films coming out in the near future shed be a good fit there wish her the best of luck
This is what I'm responding to: "If you dislike the TLJ you're either expecting too much or just parroting someone else's points like an idiot" Basically Jorori can't comprehend why someone wouldn't like The Last Jedi - hmm, and let's see who agreed with him? https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/185359/96cdc5c8-c27b-4d52-91f9-cac9168af0b2/image.png Seems like we've got a hypocrite who can't grasp that someone could dislike a movie. If you literally can't grasp what I'm saying in my post, it's that: A) The reasons why you would like TLJ are beyond me B) If you like it, I'm not gonna call you a blind fanboy If you like the movie, great for you! You have your own reasons that I'm not gonna understand, and I'm not gonna say you're just parroting off points from someone else. You misunderstood my post completely; I was calling out the exact thing you're now accusing me of.
Ironically enough RLM even liked it
Their reaction was mixed at best.
Fuck not Daisy Ridley too. What's next? Oscar getting mean tweets from his scenes with John Boyega on a "supposed" bromance subtext that never exists?
I don't think hers was as a reaction to Star Wars hate specifically (although I'm sure she got it) but more her belief that social media in general is incredibly unhealthy.
Yeah, I think that her character actually took away from what could've been a really beautiful scene as his character arc reached a great peak. Not gonna go out and harass the actress or writers though, I'm not gonna get out of bed to harass people for a mediocre movie.
So what did people actually say that made her quit? The only things I could find is people changing her characters info on wookieepedia.
Beliefs don't just spring out of the void
Someone on another site said they saw some of the comments on instagram before she deleted everything. It was a mix of death threats, racist and sexist comments. Same poster also said that most of the posters were asian accounts and/or asian related groups.
This is nothing new in Fandoms, period. They've become far more toxic alongside the generally toxicity that's infected everything else.
The kind of people who do stuff like this don't care. They are neanderthals with mob mentality. Almost the same as regular bullies. It would be nice to be simply able to ignore them, but they're probably way too many to do so, sadly.
