Like a body in a concentration camp: Mother allowed teen son to rot to death

Was the 18 year old brainwashed, mentally handicapped, physically handicapped or restrained somehow? I don't understand how an 18 year old person can die of rotting. It sounds like he was lobotomized or something.

Given that he was likely abused as a child, having no friends or other outside contact except for an odd phone call every now and then with his farther I don't think it's wrong to suggest that he probably accepted it as normal and felt like no one would help him if he tried to seek it especially when the abuse seems to of being coming from the sister, mother, and grandmother. Perhaps he was threatened if he tried to seek help?

It's difficult to draw any conclusions right now given how little information is released.

I feel like there's so much context missing. How does a family care so little for their child? There's definitely something else going on that isn't being explained.
