Whether or not you use it isn't really the point. If you're involved in basically any content production it's pretty much essential that you have a twitter account or no one will ever see what you make. Social media is a part of life now, and it's not really feasible for most people to just not use it

my feed occasionally gets to trans twitter but its mostly stuck in ironypoisioning, post-irony leftytwitter, post-post-irony left, both left and right cathtwitter because watching them fight is funny, anitwitter, funposters, ironic and not, pissmans, maoists, stalinists, antimaoists and antistalinists, anarchists and statists litter their tweets upon my feed. the only real consensus i can in the river of tweets is that cops are bad.

Twitter is considered a legitimate source for news outlets, I can see why people would exploit it like this for their own selfish reasons.

This is one of the most notable negatives of social media, sociopathic pricks like the people who spread this "meme" are given a voice and can spread their bullshit at a much faster rate. And shit like this proves anyone can be a sociopathic prick regardless of sexual orientation, race, sex, gender identity, etc. Though I won't be surprised if some defend these people's bullshit as "venting against their oppressors" like how alt-right types defend any shitty things they do by screeching "muh free speech".

It doesn't matter if the individual memes are funny. The fact that they are bullying a child off of twitter - a proudly pro-LGBT child at that, who has openly supported GLAAD - is what is at issue here.

It really isn't the same thing. All parties involved are presumably in on the joke and actively participating, I don't think you'll find many people who will look and that and think you're terrible people. That's diametrically opposite to sticking horrible things on someone's photo who isn't in on the joke and doesn't want any part of it, then posting it publicly.

Why is a child on twitter? Seems a bit silly to start with, not saying its all fine and dandy but children shouldnt be on social media.

Alright i'm confused. So the LGBT community created and are laughing at memes that feature Millie Brown degrading gay people. I fail to see how that's funny at all. The LGBT had been harassed, assaulted and been fighting their right to be recognize as normal human being for decades yet here they are laughing at homophobic caption involving killing, demeaning and humiliating gay people. Pretty ironic. I understand dark humor and i too laugh at them too but dragging and ruining a 14 year old girl's image just for a few minutes of laughs is just selfish.
