According to the article, it has to be cooled to below 1 kelvin. That's pretty ridiculous.
Its pretty normal for most quantum computing parts. Biggest downside to any of it and that won't change any time soon either unless we find some magical materials or find a way to downsize the room size cooling into something manageable.

It's not necessarily room-size, but yeah it's pretty damn big and until we can find a way around that, it doesn't matter how small the chips themselves get.
I would consider that room size, considering the main component is pretty much literally in its own room. Would fill half my room easily if not more.
