YouTuber convention TanaCon shutdown after 20k fans show up at 5k capacity venue

lol she has an agent a rep firm and a "street" PR team.
that's what it is. It's pretending you have a friend or group of friends. It's part of why streamers are so popular now
"I'm gonna make my own convention! With Blackjacks and hookers!" - Tana Mongoose
Another example as to why ticket management is so god damn important and if you sell over the capacity of the venue, find another fucking venue to accommodate the demand or consider doing two days
So when's the Internet Historian episode on this?
It's a fucking quip about Wrestling, you know that fake fight thing about stuntmen throwing each other off of tall objects for fun ?
You're right, y'know. But they're also not wrong. I don't think trying to moralize to anyone is gonna help that bandwagon tendency... because bandwagoning isn't wrong in and of itself and it's not wrong that she's a monster cunt. there's nothing inherently wrong about this. I feel like the only qualm to be had here is how much time and energy people are expending to further shit on her when it's already established how trash she is. But even then, people aren't really beholden to you or me to stop.
It's like trying to stop someone from building a treehouse in their garden when they already have a perfectly useable house. You can argue all day that it's wasted energy, but it all comes down to how blatantly shit this analogy is.
say what you want about keem but that guy knows how to make a "brand" for himself, there's million other youtuber's like this that make go "eh? how are you even popular".
She did.
Oh wait... Sorry. She tried. This was in the Twitter Thread in the OP at the very end.

This is so much worse than DashCon if only because so many people showed up to such a clusterfuck. DashCon had 350 people attend, this had 15-20 thousand that flew in from all around North America.
So we've all trashed Tana (which is fine), but let's discuss just how badly she messed up.
She had a lineup of about 30-ish YouTubers, and many of these people were really popular YouTubers, like Bella Thorne, Shane Dawson, and other kinda well known faces like Gabbie Hanna (the Gabbie Show). The main event was free (you could buy VIP tickets, which would run you about 60-70 dollars), and while you were supposed to RSVP, Tana said on her Twitter that you could just "come on through".
Seems cool, right? Well, here's the problem. She booked a tiny venue, meant to hold about 1,000 people, and about 15K people showed up, resulting in many con goers being stuck outside or forced to roam the hotel, including many people who paid specifically to avoid the line and meet the creators.
So, of course, people are pissed. And yet people are still making excuses for Tana. But, like, what the fuck did she think was gonna happen? She created this as a "fuck you" to VidCon but she didn't seem to notice how goddamn popular her lineup was? She was too busy focusing on the "oh EVERYONE is a featured creator" shit to bother looking at their subscription numbers, I guess. She bit off more than she could chew, and wanted a revenge story so badly that she failed to even remotely plan this shit right. So she got what she deserved.
