I get the whole "i dont want to waste" it thing. But for the price of JD, theres other whiskeys and bourbons. But I suppose its the name that most are paying for.
It's not even a respectable name in the U.S. Maybe overseas, but in the U.S. Jack Daniel's is known for douchey guys wearing JD t-shirts and easy to order Jack and Cokes at bars.
If the price is 10% higher, people will buy less of it, opting instead for cheaper brands (to some degree at least). Jack D will make the same per bottle, but they’ll sell fewer of them. If we were talking something less elastic, maybe we’d just be paying more, but for luxury goods you can always just buy less.
