Since the ones crying harassment are once again in a minority, and since most people can actually see right through their bullshit, all this will eventually accomplish if it blows up is to give conservatives and the fake news crowd a big boost, just in time for the midterms.
Wonderful.
Liar liar posts on fire, also this not even kind of the tact that got you banned at the time. Again you trying to ascend to thread vacuuming is probably going to take a lot more work than you're actually putting in.
There are no "misconceptions" regarding her posts. None. Three companies known for aggressively progressive hiring policies including bypassing white male candidates that were more qualified have fired her for being a maximum battery life screechbeast.
Secondly Deroir was not saying "do this" he directly said "what if you did this" and her response was not "we thought of that and it didn't apply in this context because ______ and ______" her response was "I have a vagina and you don't, therefore, fuck you".
Try harder, or go home.
The trick, as always, is to remember that SJWs aren't people in the same way the Alt-Right isn't people.
If we all do that it isn't going to affect anything. Beside that I doubt some stupid videogame politics lead by people with a mental disorder is going to affect something as important as a election.
That's because the industry didn't produce any corruption scandals in mid-late 2014 that grabbed people's attention like the "gamers are over" narrative did. I mean, game devs did get a lot of
attention from gamergate, even more than the journalists did by November, but it came as a result of a continuous stream of attention whoring, irrelevant shitty behavior, and anti-SJW
narratives at a time when there wasn't too much else going on that made people want to stick around.
Yeah, that's a flat out lie.
They knew--or at least had a responsibility to know, in 2018--what would happen to a female game dev who was fired in response to an exchange about sexism. It would have been bad enough if they had just fired me and announced I was fired.
I fucking hate this logic, this idea that the entire world is supposed to function how this person believes it should function - that everyone should think the way she does, and that the only correct way to go about things is her way. Using terms like 'they knew' or 'they had a responsibility to know' in regards to how she sees the industry.
Whether or not they actually do have a responsibility to know this stuff, this behavior reeks of unprofessionalism. I had never heard of this person before, but she seems like a trash human being. Being that this has somehow turned to a conversation regarding sexism in the gaming industry, I want to remark that it's brilliant, earnest justice that she's gotten fired over this ordeal. I rarely relish in people losing their jobs, but this is the state of the industry at the moment - jobs are tenuous and game developers are thrust in quasi-PR roles on their twitter platforms. It's like this partly due to people like her. It only makes sense that she receives the same form of backlash that - dare I say it - a male in her position would have.
Don't get the wrong impression from this post, I don't mean to bitch about the 'state of the industry' and 'them damn feminists ruining everything!!' I think the industry is going through a rough but positive period of change at the moment. It's just really fuckin' satisfying to see this person isn't going to get away with acting like an awful person to her community just because she's a woman.
Lol, this same guy (or someone else in the comments) were complaining about how people didn't like Price for being an asshole while they liked Kamiya, as if the circumstances for both of those devs were the same.
If Kamiya were fired for his behavior I wouldn't fault Platinum for doing it.
I would be lying if I said I don't find his broken english shitposts incredibly entertaining though.
Kamiya is an asshole but he's an asshole who's entertaining, very good at his job, and as far as im aware isnt actively celebrating the death of video game pundits.
Yeah but Kamiya's shenanigans come from him getting trolled or harassed, nothing wrong with him being snarky back. There's a difference between that and what happened between Price and the GW2 fans.
Having paid really, really close attention to community developer interaction with WoW, I can say with 100% certainty that how Deroir spoke to Price is representative of how nearly every single invested player speaks to developers. Including beagle. His complaints about Long War 2 and Xcom 2 were phrased in exactly the same way.
Price was an asshole.
There are a ton of people saying she sucked dicks to get her job.
Does the latter make the former acceptable? No.
Does the former justify the latter? No.
Are people in general going to respond more strongly to women being assholes? Yeah, probably.
Was Arenanet firing her for causing a shitstorm for no reason justifiable? Absolutely.
I agree with beagle when he says that sexism isn't always explicit and easy to notice. Sometimes people do discriminate against women without realizing that they're doing it. It is possible that Deroir phrased his criticisms the way he did because he's inclined to feel that women don't know what they're talking about.
It's also possible- and I would argue far, far more likely- that he wrote the way he did because he has an opinion he very strongly feels is correct. And he would've said the exact same thing to anyone else.
What these fucking brain dead gazoonies don't understand is that the point of social justice isn't "everything is racist/sexist/homophobic".
It's "here are things that can be discriminatory that you wouldn't usually notice".
It's about highlighting a possibility, not a universal truth.
But then these inbred retards come along and say "well if everything could be racist, then that means I can just assume everything is and justify being an asshole for no fucking reason". And now what should have been a discussion about people opening up to new perspectives and the possibility that they aren't right has become two groups of increasingly opinionated people shouting their increasingly confident opinions at each other. It's infuriating.
Considering he was praising her in a stream just before the incident, saying that he loved her work or something along those lines, I highly doubt he had any form of malicious intent. He was just reaching out as a fan. Unless he is some sort of mastermind who planned all of this in advance.
Funny thing is that she got fired from Paizo (Pathfinder publisher) for the same reason, being hostile, sexist and attacking industry icons for the same reason. And now that she tried to incite a harassment mob against Anet, no developer in gaming will want to hire her ever again.
If you're like me, someone who is tired of toxic and abusive people like that ruining gaming, this situation is pure schadenfreude.
Do you have a source on the Paizo firing?
I randomly came across that beagle thread on Twitter and after reading:
Deroir, took the opportunity to contradict her and say "It's actually not that hard, just do this."
I'm just immediately blown away by how totally misrepresentative that is of what happened and how the following 50 Tweets are built off of that one statement. The enormous praise and rallying behind those posts baffle me. This is maybe the first time I've been so completely confused by this sort of thing. What am I missing? I have to be missing something for so many people to seem to take away something completely different from what I'm seeing. I just don't understand how Deroir's post was anything more than just somebody curious to hear the thoughts of a developer and wanting to start a discussion. I've been in that position before, on both sides. I've both asked a developer to hear their thoughts, and of people have asked me about the games I work on to give suggestions or criticism.
I am completely dumbfounded this sequence of events and the way that so many people are rallying in defense of Price's response.
To be clear, I do think that immediately firing for her seems dramatic. It's enough that it makes me wonder if something had happened internally either before or after her meltdown that prompted ArenaNet to go from 0 to fired in a day. Ditto goes for the Fries. That seems even less justified.
However it's this narrative that in the events that started it all, the narrative in which Deroir is a mysoginistic sexist asshat condescendingly attacking a developer specifically because she's a woman that has me completely lost and thinking I'm experiencing a whole other reality from everybody else. I just don't see it. Of course the argument then becomes it's because I'm an institutionalized mysognistic bastard, but I don't think I am, and it's an indefensible position because it's too easy for somebody to say "just because you think you aren't doesn't mean you aren't."
People just don't check. Kind of a similar thing happened with gamergate. Journalists learned that their audience will listen to literally anything they say without checking so they're just still doing that, now with this story as well. A framework has been created in which it is virtuous to jump to protect people under a certain set of conditions even if none of those conditions include "honest" or "accurate", anyone who disagrees is evil, anyone who claims to have actually checked the facts is just secretly evil even though the person hasn't checked themselves. It works because its so easy, it preys on people's laziness.

This twitter thread explains it rather well.
"Scientists baffled by woman's incredible ability to fuck up every time"
Man welcome to my online experience since like two years ago The worst part is there's so few people on the other side of the conversation who are asking themselves the same thing, because they're willing to take a third party's take on it that they know already agrees with them.
It doesn't seem like she was fired from Paizo according to that thread. According to that thread she was laid off. Did some googling and all I can find is some thread on one of Paizo's forums where they mention that her and some other people in the company being laid off.
Quite enamored of yourself, aren't you Jessica?
Spending several years in the industry and having a vagina doesn't mean you have a right to snap at people giving you a polite suggestion. In fact, if you truly believe you're better then anyone, you should've shown that by being mature and respectful.
And as much as you'll keep playing victim card, the end result will be the same: no one in their right mind will give you a job after those delightful stunts you've pulled. Suck it up.
But of course, other over-enamored people such as Anita Sarkessian and Randy Pitchford already spoke in defense for her.
Eh
They're shitty people
