Elon Musk sends Boring Company engineers to help Thai cave rescue mission

Seeing as they have tunnel engineers, they're probably also working on a way to make the gap bigger.
So this may be a dumb question, but how did the stranded group get stuck so far down the cave system if the only way to get to where they are by divers is via a barely body-sized hole?
It wasn't flooded to begin with. They crawled back there to get away from rising flood waters. Which then receeded but left portions of the cave flooded.
But when the cave was dry(er), they crawled through that small space to get to where they are to avoid the rising water levels?
Presumably
Deteriorating conditions forced them to go in before they could get anything over from the US

Even though they no longer need the device, the team completed it and here it is

Man, somehow I was thinking of something more cool looking
They did make it in like a day or two.
Off to Thailand shortly just in case:

Cool they can fit an adult in there. Kids should have plenty of space
I feel like that is way too big to fit in the hole an oxygen canister barely did.
That video isn't the same cave, it's just an example of cave diving conditions that is being falsely passed around.
Turns out that's not the real cave. That one is from a cave in Wisconsin.

This tube was designed with consultation from the rescue divers in Thailand and should fit throughout the cave system.

Plan C is still being tested but likely won't be necessary given the progress made by the divers today.
On it's way

What a dumb thing to lie about. Oh well, makes much more sense.
This is actually so crazy to me. I wish I was so resourceful that I could read about a rescue effort on the news and actually help, let alone by inventing and producing in less than a day an apparatus that will potentially aid future rescue efforts.

Musk dropped it off at the cave

However, Chiang Rai Governor Narongsak Osatanakorn said this afternoon that while he was grateful for Mr Musk's support, the submarine just was not practical for the rescue mission.
Still annoyed how people are hating on Elon for this. Dammed if he tries, dammed if he doesn't.
problem: tight and bendy rock tunnels difficult to traverse by humans
muskian solution: giant inflexible steel child coffin
>prime example of silicon valley tech-bros with a saviour complex inventing a solution that was neither asked for nor appropriate.
>"why are people so mean to Elon"
Well they made it, may as well have sent it just in case something went wrong and a kid was unable to make it.
Its a nice gesture but it just wasnt needed, but at the time they had no idea. But its good that so many people stepped up with ideas and experience, that is how these boys got saved in the first place.
If you want to hate on Elon, hate him for his unrealistic work expectations, dont hate him for this.
Yeah, the criticism is pretty valid in my opinion. Even if his intentions were ultimately good, it left a bad taste in lots of people.
The saddest thing is how the actual rescuers, the Western divers that helped got very little attention, while Elon practically swims in praise at the moment.
