With all due respect to that diver, and he does earn respect if he was there, and I don't know the full context of the interview, but the tube was designed with consultation by Richard Stanton, who was the guy who found the boys and co-led the rescue mission. I obviously was not there and can't say for certain but his tone seems overly harsh.
How is it harsh if its the truth it probably would had made more sense if it was tube like
Something new was made that could help people in the future. World enraged.
I was gobsmacked by the flak that Elon got for this.
He didn’t deserve flak for building the submarine, even though it did seem like a PR stunt from the get-go. But criticising the rescuers for not using his submarine? It reeked of a bruised ego. Poor little Elon couldn’t save the day and look like the hero. So there was absolutely no surprise that as soon as this saga was over and the boys were rescued, that Elon went on to his next PR stunt by pledging to resolve the Flint contaminated water crisis. It seems that he doesn’t care about actually doing good. Rather, it seems that he only cares about his image.
I'm not enraged, just rolling my eyes that everyone is focused on Musk and his zany ideas because "fuck yeah science", while seemingly paying no attention to the expert cave divers who actually went into the cave and rescued people. Also rolling my eyes at how Musk did his best to make this situation about him and his companies.
When did he do that? I'm pretty sure he didn't.
Even if these things are PR stunts, what's the harm? Isn't it win-win? People complain no matter what a rich person does.
I feel that this is partly because of the weird backlash he's getting for just trying to help, and being open about it too.
Ya'll realize that if companies were more competitive with charity for PR hat the world would be way better than it is now, right? Even if he is doing it just for marketing, does it matter? If he went in without consulting anybody at all, then the flak would be justified; but that's not the case.
I'm not too bothered by what he's doing since at the end of the day he's still trying to help. A benevolent egoist is much preferred to a malicious person who pulls strings behind the scenes. I just find it a little silly that people are falling over themselves to heap praise on him.
Honest truth, I don't know much about Elon Musk outside of a few headlines of him trying to help people so keep that in mind- but people who are critiquing him trying to help others and getting mad are insanely pathetic tbh. Like holy shit how bitter do you have to be to see someone trying to make the world a better place and hate them because they have money. Grow the fuck up. Yeah how dare he move on to try and help on another problem, fuck that guy right?
Elon has never once criticised the divers for not using his submarine. Not once.
Did I ever say that he criticised the divers? No mate. But personally attacking one of the rescue leaders by implicitly questioning their expertise and roll in the rescue, when they refused the submarine? It’s not hard to see.
I literally just posted that that information is false.
He doesn't seem to have a problem implying that one of the lead divers is a pedophile for living in Thailand though https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1018494440648859648 https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1018497953051258880
I'd be a bit peeved too if I was asked to help out and then actually tried to help only to have someone tell me to show my help up my ass

Not gonna defend that. That's just a sad and insane thing to say.
I mean to be fair why would someone specializing in water rescues live somewhere with a massive tourist industry based on marine activity it is a little suspect, truly eli the musky man applying his alpha attitude to say it like it is
what the fuck musk
He's caught the billionaire brain-rot disease. Next thing we know, he'll be running for the presidency.
God damnit Elon, please don't fall into the social media trap and ruin the important things because some people said mean things to you
Blowing a gasket because he was trying to make himself look like a hero and everyone called him out for being a dope.
I understand he's angry at everyone shitting on his efforts but if you swing that low all you do is validate them. This is obviously indefensible. He shouldn't have said that.
Alright Musk, people are idiots but I think it's time to move on and stop digging this hole now.
@dnt462 please, do explain how you're defending this one
You know it was a poorly thought tweet when even muskdrones are raising their eyebrows.
Some of them, anyway Plenty of them are still sucking in Elon's bullshit. https://twitter.com/isedwards/status/1018514101662863361 https://twitter.com/AragornZorEl/status/1018514478667911168 https://twitter.com/FitzsimmonsK/status/1018518853125582849 etc
