Its the middle of winter here and its still fucking hotter than there. God damn it
Oddly enough, it's cooler here despite being ~30 miles East of that heat zone. At this time it's usually ~115 (46C) but lately it's been 105 - 110 (40-43).
Continued power outages in my city. Some people won't get power back until next morning.
stay strong fellas because it's only gonna get hotter
that's when you die
everything in my apartment feels like it's been in direct sunlight for hours driving home from work with the windows rolled down was like being blasted in the face with a hair dryer. I live in far east LA
That aint hot, here in (insert area here) it gets way hotter. Just kidding, today in Nor Cal it wasn't that bad, but maybe it will be?
So the heat has caused my door to swell just enough that in order to lock it, I have to lean against it and shove. I fear I may not be able to unlock it in the morning. It only peaked at 112 today. Even with my AC going all day, it was still hot in here. Can't wait for the $120 electric bill in two weeks.
I've been to Georgia, Hell is actually extremely humid.
made the mistake of going to an outdoor mall today. the swamp ass is real
cant wait for arizona to reach 120+ F soon
Fire in big-bear california. http://www.bigbeargrizzly.net/news/fire-closes-highway-valley-fire-at-acres/article_b0aef7b0-815f-11e8-a0de-d7ad8bfc96ab.html
Doesn't matter, there's no escaping it on the ground, this heat wave is continent wide, it's been in the 90s in both Michigan and New York regularly for a week or two now. The only safe thing to do is abandon the continent.
I mean, it's not really selfish, they're getting paid pretty handsomely for their sacrifice.
I’m lying in bed, in my third floor apartment. With no air conditioning unit. Help me.
Are all of these fires purposely lit or something? Every year when the California heatwave hits it seems like every second day a fire has broken out and burned hectares of land. Here where I am in QLD (yes, Australia, shoot me) we have regular 40c dry-as-a-bone summers and you'd be lucky to see 2 reports the whole way through of fires going off... And it's MAJOR forest and eucalypt territory where I am. I can't help but think you've got major arsonist issues over there???
Probably because we’re all smoking too much weed, and letting ashes fly off.
DoorDash pays their drivers like shit, steals their tips, and only gives bonuses if you take 80% of the assignments they give you (and they give you some real shit assignments, like driving 13 miles to deliver $5 worth of Taco Bell) so no not really
California is heavily [sub]urbanized and the denizens of those areas are against prescribed, controlled fires that would clear the forests of detritus safely like a normal wildfire would. Since the forests are not being cleared, over the year it just because a tinderbox waiting for the next dry spell and heatwave to ignite and cause billions in damage.
Most dangerous thing about this heat is the simple fact that you don't really realize it's as hot as it is. I've seen people have heat stroke from 80f let alone 110. Living right smack dab in Riverside county for 20 years- it ain't that bad if you're in a city, the humidity is low, so it isn't miserable, and the only thing to worry about is fire, hydration, and body temp. A few years back in 2015 I was working in my storage lot and got a radiating heat burn. It was 113 and the tin roof was at least hot enough to boil water on. I was about 4 feet away for 30 minutes, and that's enough to give you something like a sunburn. In any case, it's not too bad.
i got paid minimum wage to stand in this heat all day, thanks bob iger
It's actually been pretty cool up here in SF bay aside from the past few days which would be great except my cycling trails have been really windy this whole summer
Slightly cooler but more humid today. Had that disgusting high humidity rain roll through 107° with rain is a bad deal.
Where were all you socal fucks three months ago for the FP Socal Meetup?!
suddenly its a fucking oven outside what the fuck man
i'm further north from the dangerous area, but it's still ~100°F daily here. normally i appreciate a nice breeze during the hot weather, but even the fucking wind is hot, like a giant hairdryer is frying my city. there's also loads of dead grass around my city, and it smells a bit like a city-wide barbecue is going on with all the fires, so that's a plus i guess.
You aren't living till you work outside here all day long, and you look like you fell into a puddle the entire day.
After getting rawdogged by that monstrous weather all day, it was fun to go outside to catch the cool breeze with the mosquitos riding it. Can summer be over yet?
I'm only 32, and when I was a kid summer was pleasant. Now it's insufferable and miserable unless it's a cloudy/breezy day
there were like 2 bush fires within 1 kilometer of my home in one day. thank god for the firefighters.
