(117°F/47°C) Excessive Heat Warning in Southern California

Just like in the UK, the temperatures here have been unusually high too lately. The Netherlands isn't that big of a country and usually the country remains cool from colder winds coming from the coast as the cool ocean water cools the winds down. Not anymore I guess. In these past 2-3 weeks the temperature has been around 86F and no single drop of rain. Everywhere you look the grass is dry, and in a friend's neighborhood a row of trees even lost a great amount of leaves.
Thankfully there haven't been major bush fires yet. Stay safe out there!
I thought i was melting without a/c the last 2 days...
Why haven't we sent California into the ocean yet? It's pretty clear nature just refuses to accept that it exists.
At least tonight it's better. Good lord it was insufferable the past two nights outside.
Why do you think we're trying so hard to avoid doing anything about global warming?
glad I got to enjoy the weather while moving all my shit across the city and assembling furniture at my new place
no AC but at least they gave us a heater for our brutal socal winters
I'm on the west side of LA and it was a little more tolerable today. Jeez my AC has been struggling to stay alive these past few days!
The AC in my new (to me) car fucking died again 🙃
Second summer in a row that the compressor has gone out. Car didn't even overheat this time, it just died randomly.
Ours keeps freezing up and needing to be turned off for a couple hours. The problem is it does this in the middle of the day when it’s hottest
:( that's terrible man. I've been worried about the compressor on my car as well lately but it's been holding up really well. I think my car is happy that it's not in Chicago anymore though, no more salt trying to eat it away. Now it's just heat and good old LA dust covering it every day lol.
I'm thinking of possibly swapping my portable unit out for a vertical window unit. They're supposed to be more energy efficient and cool way better than a portable unit with a similar BTU rating. Maybe it's time for a replacement for you as well. It just sucks that they're so pricey, but my sanity is well worth it because mine was barely able to keep my apartment below 80 degrees.
I’m sure our AC is on the way out but we’re only in this place for a couple more weeks, and the place we’re moving to has central air so I makes no sense to buy a new unit. Also it’s embedded in the wall and sealed in with foam and metal plates and shit. It’d be a nightmare to maintain.
it's entirely overcast and still 100F right now
the swampass levels are rising
Heatwave 2: Electric Boogaloo this week boys.

It was 108 today. I could feel my skin burning when I stood outside.
Been moving house all weekend in 100+ weather in SLO. Had to sit down right in front of the wall AC several times because I got dizzy. Drank a gallon of water today alone.
Can this heat please fuck off?
We take pride in our pyroflora.
Oh god, I'm dying here in +30C and you guys are almost 20 degrees higher.
I would die instantly, instead of this slow death I'm experiencing now.
its gonna be 117 for a couple of days in phoenix
