Gun regulation is what saved people in 2010. I was a few miles away and have extensively read the reports. Bird was restricted to .22LR calibre and also a shotgun. Had he a handgun or larger calibre rifle he would have killed a lot more people. You claim it's done fuck all, but you can't really empirically judge that considering the absence of any major mass shooting events in recent history. Had our regulations not been implemented, firearms would be far more widespread and therefore would be readily available to more people. At least with knives, you have to be within fighting distance of your target. It's a more visceral experience which I feel dissuades a fair amount of people from actually carrying out knife attacks. Shooting somebody with a firearm is a very detached and easy affair, you just have to point and squeeze. I feel that given the choice between a gun and a knife, 99% of people would elect to use a gun to harm somebody.
ye but a knife can't hit me from 100m away
A larger caliber rifle is just as easy to obtain, are you sure you've checked what licences you can get? Literally how? Britain's gun ownership has always been low, regulations have always been in place, firearms couldn't become more widespread because of said regulations and how onearth would they become more readily available? Do you understand that when i say gun-regulation i only mean the banning of semi automatics and handguns, NOT the rules we've had in place for decades covering where you can shoot and how you must handle firearms etc?
The current licensing systems we have in place appear to work pretty well, with guns only being owned by a minority of farmers, hunters, and enthusiasts. I think arming the public en masse would be a disaster, but I don't think that's what you're advocating for. Banning handguns does seem a bit silly when the others are allowed, but this isn't my area of expertise.
This is my exact point, i love our system. Its tough, no nonesense You get arrested for a fight? Guns gone You ever had a drug or domestic abuse issue? Guns-gone (as in doing the abusing) Your doctor reports you as being really fucking weird? Guns gone The police have immense power unless the gun owner is sensible. Its great, it means that a vast majority of people who own firearms are totally legit. In my opinion, because our laws have got far stronger since the 40s and now with computers tracking people Instead of police themselves, it would be advantageous to the economy and shooters to be allowed to have pistols and semis again. Reason being because it would be range only as you'd expect and police would be super paranoid, in a good way I don't want any form of deregulation or anything like that
Oi. You got a loicense for that image?
When are we gonna start fighting the war on letter openers? I can't feel safe when there's a chance the dude on the bus next to me could be planning to slash up dozens of letters.
Or just steal one from mom's cutlery drawer.
