i think people forget what waiting is like when you're a kid, 5 hours in a queue feels like days. plus the idea of standing still and not wondering off is a nightmare at that age
I still think it's pathetic petty greed. Parents are putting their children through painful hours long waiting just to save a few pounds on a stuffed animal.
Damn dude, you've literally found a way to deride the concept of a child's happiness. I think that the whole waiting 5 hours thing is silly as hell, but the happiness the children involved in it is perfectly valid, as is the choice for parents to take them. I dunno, maybe these kids just REALLY wanted that one specific stuffed animal. If that's the case, then that's great. Kids treat stuffed animals as friends and they'll likely enjoy it for years afterwards.
Build-A-Bear also offers IP related products. Most recently: My Little Pony, Pokemon, Paw Patrol, and various movies such as How to Train Your Dragon, Trolls, Jurassic World, and various Disney properties like Star Wars and Marvel. It's really obtuse to not see what's appealing about them. If anyone remembers the insanity surrounding Beanie Babies, you can see why something like Build-A-Bear can be as immensely popular as it is. Especially when the stuffed animals are pretty good quality and kids can buy them outfits, accessories, and even things like little cars for them to ride around in. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1868/abbf553f-c191-41fd-a882-6bfdcc67b547/image.png If you're struggling to see why they're popular, I'd assume it's because you haven't been around a toddler or elementary aged kid lately lol.
oh the horror those poor children faced, waiting in line have you considered that the parents find it similarly insufferable, but didn't want to disappoint their child who looked forward to the promise of the gift? certainly you either grew up with the pampering money to avoid such concerns, or forgot what it was like in your ugly cynicism
this is bullshit. disabled people get reusable bendy straws that are much better for them cuz they cant suck them down their throats and choke to death.
Putting their children through painful hours by giving their children something they want? The ones probably having a bad time waiting are the parents kids are probably excited to get a nice bear. This discount is letting people give their children something they probably normally couldn't get because of low income.
That's literally what the article is about. The long line they had to wait in. Adults cope with waiting differently than children. For a child 5 hours almost feels like days especially when there's nothing to do. Also don't assume anything about my childhood. That's just pure ignorance.
You're a fucking idiot who has zero concept of how money and value works. Wow, they bought something when it was cheap? Almost like that's how the market works. Nah, can't be that, they're cheapskates. Have you even considered that many of them might not be able to get a bear at all without the sale?
Sales like these invoke huge lines and at that point you gotta consider how much your time is worth. I would rather pay more money but have more time to do other things.
I dunno, as a child, waiting in line can be pretty soul crushing.
look at all those commoners
While it's hard to imagine a situation where I would value four hours of my time as worth less than a teddy bear for my kid (though to be fair they probably didn't realize there would be such a wait when they drove out to the store, and they didn't want to disappoint their kids once they arrived) you have to consider that most people can't just say to their employer "hey, I want to work four more hours this week". Many jobs just aren't that flexible and aren't willing to pay for more hours. Many people struggle to get enough hours for a living wage and need to get multiple jobs just to keep above the water.
