• James Gunn booted from "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" after old tweets resurface

I dunno, Sam Hyde's firing came almost completely out of nowhere compared to James Gunn
The creator of the comic that you're using. His name is in the middle of the comic!
Inability to separate creation from creator is the same reason James Gunn and others are attacked and outright dropped on views/jokes regardless of it not showing in their works. This particular strip has nothing to do with the offensive jokes stonetoss frequently implements.

Disney insiders say the company was not aware of the offensive tweets and was taken aback when they were recirculated. Ah so Disney are actually really bad at their jobs.
Would you prefer companies have some weird squad to stalk everyone's social media for thought crimes back to the dark ages when bringing on established talent?
In what world is that even remotely possible. The man built his career off Troma films like come the fuck on. I dont believe that statement in any capacity. Someone in the company involved in the hiring process had to have known.
How does knowing about his credits on the Toxic Avenger company translate to knowing about 2009 tweets on kid diddling? Most people didn't know about this until now
I'd expect a big company like Disney to inspect public tweets and past controversies, or at the very least his filmography before hiring a director for their giant marvel movies, especially when they're so concerned about PR
Cause being associated with a film company known for shock humor, i'd have to assume a company like Disney with a notoriously family friendly brand image would have to have at least one guy look through his twitter.
so you're saying you haven't seen a single movie he was involved with before GotG, got it
On the bright side, this might mean he'll go back to working on films with a more adult focus now, assuming anyone gives him a job after this.
james gunn made gross paedophile jokes ~10 years ago sam hyde was making stupid racist sketches at the time of his firing yeah, nowhere, for sure
Most people. Companies like Disney, Amazon, Warner Brothers, other large major publishers all do a process of what is known as "Vetting". This includes extensive checks through social media to see a persons history. There is absolutely, 0% chance that Disney was unaware of this. They knew. They absolutely knew. I do not believe they would fail to do this check on a person who made, and was made famous by, the film "Super". They do these checks on everyone, and most times they hire them anyways. It isn't a way to filter out problems, but a way to be aware of them. In our current climate, we aren't very forgiving. Even when we find out a person has changed, is changing, or etc, we collectively are still a relatively harsh group.
what the fuck does watching his movies have to do with reading his tweets
his old troma movies are just as vulgar as his old tweets
which obviously means by some psychic enhancement that anyone who watches them sees his entire twitter feed
His troma films were hardly family friendly. So either they knew of those films and didn't care or didn't to the basic work of looking into a man's body of work that they were going hire him for a major big budget movie. Which is more likely? And I'm surprised the richest media company in the world hasn't heard of those tweets before but I guess everyone assumed Clinton had her shit together too.
They still give you a sense of what he’s like as a writer, thus, a sense of what his humor is like.
i don't really get the point you're trying to make. i'm saying that Disney should have been aware of his character 10 years ago, even if they were only aware of his movies. whether you look at his films, or his tweets, you would see he was a shock provocateur who relies on being offensive and vulgar for his comedy. the films contain things just as bad as his tweets. you didn't need to see his tweets to know the dude made gross paedophile jokes, his films showed that. nobody is saying that to be aware of one is to be aware of the other - they are saying the content is pretty much the same and they're equally as bad. if anything the movies are worse because instead of just briefly writing something inappropriate, it was written, filmed, and edited. i think you are intentionally misunderstanding people in order to call them dumb idiots and make yourself angry, because the thought process is relatively simple and agreeable. it doesn't make sense to fire a guy for messed up tweets when you were aware of his equally (if not more) messed up movies
The point I'm making is that I pointed out that most people weren't aware of his tweets controversy until now, then it's responded to with a snarky remark that I haven't watched any of his pre-gotg movies (I have), as if that has anything to do with knowing about his past tweeting PR troubles
wow, this is embarassing
Mike and his ilk claimed to have 100 targets, and they are targeting Seth Rogen currently https://twitter.com/Mediaite/status/1025186125273546757 freshly retweeted by the guy himself.
I think we're suggesting that Disney should have googled James Gunn at the very least before hiring him
I still find it incredibly strange that Disney seems to so far be the only one that just blacklists people instantly when the weather isn't fair. Even Adult Swim backed Harmon after they came for him, I can't imagine they're even a fraction as powerful.
I suspect they were quick to throw Gunn under the bus because of the Fox acquisition.
https://deadline.com/2018/08/james-gunn-guardians-of-the-galaxy-marvel-studios-disney-eleventh-hour-save-attempt-1202443199/ Looks like we might have James Gunn coming back if Marvel can convince Disney.
James Gunn made a dead baby joke a decade ago and already apologized RELEASE THE HOONDS Johnny Depp kicked his wife's ass straight up in public again Can we get a five movie extension? Tell him we'll pay his wine bill too.
The real challenge is guessing which will cost the company more.
if only depp could act like he wasn't an arse in real life
