that's what i'm wondering too
It was better back in my day when people just use ascii and text.

You mean where I was pointing out what the fear was?
Did I say I agreed with that fear?
Perhaps I actually explicitly said I don't agree that the fear is valid.
Imagine that.
Considering you claimed to know what it was and what it was predicated on, I expect you to be able to tell me what you're asserting I'm saying.
I always wonder who decides what is or isn’t for the trans community. Like how does a collective group of completely unique individuals decide that Lobster is the Emoji of Trans?
same way any other meme kicks off
the same way any other small group of individuals acts in the name of a greater group they consider themselves a part of and to be acting on the behalf of said greater group's cause
whether that catches on or not is another thing, however; the community they claim to act on behalf of is in great part an abstraction without much reality outside the relations of individuals broadly grouped together on the basis of a certain parameter
same way any community decides to use something to represent them, after all we do have an actual trans pride flag that they decided was for them
you present the idea before big gay and after several hours of intense vibration a consensus is reached and people either like your idea enough to support it or ignore it.
I want to be a woman so that I can have babies. D:
@SIRIUS Come back, I have questions!
ANSWER ME TUDD SIRIUS
please respond
It will take at least six months for the consortium to actually do anything
That's cool, but why is there no autism emoji yet?
Fair enough, I suppose I got caught up in the argument
Better question is: What would an autism emoji even look like?
theres the problem
we don't need more than half of those
and we CERTAINLY don't need a redesign ever few months either
you could argue we dont need emojis altogether but ask yourself, where's the harm?
Everyone here is likely a poor barometer for "normal" in terms of exposure to these memes.
Why not just use the question mark emoji?
I thought the rainbow flag encompassed all LGBT peoples, why the hell do you need ANOTHER flag?
The only complication I see with this, is that unlike the LGBT rainbow flag, which is older and more esablished, there are several versions of the trans flag. I wonder if that's a relevant actor for the delay in including it.
There isn't a reason to not have one, but I also don't see a reason why there should be one. I'm bisexual, I don't really care if there's a bisexual flag.
I don't think anyone would even recognize the flags of any of these subgroups, and flags, to my understanding, are supposed to be easy to understand symbols of a group or nation.
Having at least 4 sub flags under the general concept of the LGBT group seems well, more divisive and certainly doesn't make it easier to explain to people who are unfamiliar with it
But then again, as I said, there doesn't seem to be a good reason to not do it, so whatever.
I do question it though.
If you read the thread you'd already have your answer seeing as someone else already asked it and got an answer.
Obviously, I'm jist speculating on why it could be more complicated than it appears at first glance.
i guess this might not be common knowledge to people who aren't in any LGBT communities, but:
the rainbow flag represents same-gender attraction. it's the gay flag. there is a lesbian flag, and a bi flag, etc, but everyone is familiar with the rainbow flag being a gay pride flag.
the trans flag is specifically for trans people. it also represents non-binary people. it includes basically anybody who isn't cis.
the two flags have completely different connotations. it objectively makes sense to have both flags, both for the sake of representation and also for the same shit you use regular emojis for.
It's silly? One flag represents an umbrella for everyone to be put under, offering no direct preference towards a specific group. The Rainbow flag is often used by gay activist however, but it's know that it's a symbol for the L's,G's,B's, and the T's. It reminds how of very similar the Anarchist,Syrian Rebel, and Islamic Jihadist group flags share very similar designs with color swaps or slightly different imagery but still represent almost one specific goal; for reference this isn't saying all those groups are the same, other than Syrian Rebels and Jihadists.
it's really not that silly. having the gay pride flag represent all LGBT people is like having a single apple emoji to represent all fruit.
there really is no purpose to that level of ambiguity, considering how objectively useful it would be to have a trans flag emoji.
lumping everyone under one umbrella doesn't really benefit any party
I would think that would be closer to unity
To the people thinking it's dumb to have a flag that encompasses all, and flags for specific things.
Look at Country > State/Province flags same concept applies.
