• French woman punched by catcaller in public for telling him to "shut up"

Ever since theyve been actively subjugating Arab minorities and trying to force them to conform by legislating against their culture and way of life. Clothing bans, prayer bans, the arab ghettos, ect. I dont think its a leap to say that banning personal freedoms like prayer and culture is a restriction on freedom of speech.
Links?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_ban_on_face_covering Really dude? They ban a lot of shit related to muslims
Welp. Guess i didn't know that.
Imagine thinking cat-calling is simply "free speech". It's honestly disgusting how some people go to great lengths to defend it.
your inability to distinguish between the two is a testament to how fucking disconnected you are from social interaction at a normal level.
Came off shorter tempered than I intended.
Theres nothing wrong with news laws against catcalling as long as they are properly enforced. It's a real issue. The only reason youd be against it is if that's how you want to treat women outside. Imagine posting in the thread about a woman being sexual harassed and punched by her harasser, to say sexual harassement is free speech.
congratulations svidde, you just answered your own question sexual harrassment is sexual violence, whether or not there is any physical contact. It should be blatantly obvious that this guy is doing this as a violent domination move because he thinks he can get away with it. him punching her just solidifies that fact. You are the problem, not the people trying to create laws to punish jackasses like the guy in the op vid from doing such incorrigible shit
Wow, calm down edgelord, you might break the forums code https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1356/79907cab-f557-487d-881d-62f0a4a93426/image.png
no offense. But you're a fucking idiot.
lmao spotted the cat caller
Piece of advice for the future: if you say something stupid and feel the need to keep talking, dig up. Not down.
sexual harassment then punching someone in the face is not exercising your right to "freedom of speech" and banning such acts is not going infringe on muhh free speech
You can google this stuff. Veil bans, burqa bans, public prayer bans, burqini/burkini bans, ect. Just google "french muslim ban" and you'll get all kinds of stuff. France isn't the tolerant nation we think typical of Europe. They're legit pretty bigoted. I had one dood justify the bigotry as France having a long history of secularism, but almost all modern laws specifically target Muslims, and are specifically enforced on Muslims. It's pretty uncool tbh
Just to clarify, I did mean offense.
Theres also the ban preventing public school children from wearing religious garb on top of that ban as well. Gotta instill that xenophobia at a young age.
Did the guy in the video get arrested at all?
Do you have any sort of actual justification to prevent children from practicing their religious beliefs beyond xenophobia? I can't come up with any real problems by letting people wear whatever the fuck they want, especially if their religion calls for it and it's their choice to do so. The only reason that garment is politically loaded is because bigots and xenophobes are scared of it. Your countries are cowardly bending your knees to those xenophobes and it does nothing but subjugate the minorities who want to wear them. All you're doing is subjugating minorities because of your xenophobic beliefs.
Ah you're a ignorant one I see. Like your country sends children in literal concentration camps? It varies from country to country over here in schools, your face shall not be covered during classes. Religious garment or not it applies to everyone. That's all.
I'm ignorant because I'm not xenophobic? Quit trying to deflect Yea, I get that. You've said that, I understand the laws. I'm asking you to justify that. I want to know why you think it's ok for a government to make a choice for somebody regarding their religious practices, especially if it's their choice and harms nobody. I'm asking you to justify that beyond "yea thats just the way it is".
I'm not here to argue. I just commented - it's obvious you're looking to spend hours debating something i'm not interested in.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1XGPvbWn0A It can get to the point where the person catcalling a woman will follow them or try to kiss them. I had this happen to me recently at the beach a month ago. A man about the age of my dad stopped me on my bike and I thought he needed help/had a question because i'm a local and theres a bunch of tourists where I live who get lost, so he started saying really vulgar things about my body once I stopped and waited for him to make his way over to me and expressed how he wanted me and I kept telling him that it was inappropriate and that I needed to go. He then grabbed my arm and tried kissing me a bunch of times. There were a few men nearby and I was basically looking for someone to help me and no one did. I finally got free and sped away. Catcalling can lead to really fucked situations and instances like these are not new. They just arent talked about.
You don't know what you're talking about, youre derailing the thread into a completely different topic nobody but you wants to argue about, and youre calling a whole country xenophobic because of the decisions of its governement, while coming from the god damn United States with its immigrant kids concentration camps and its travel bans. I'm smart enough to dissociate a gouvernement and its people before making broad accusations and generalisation about a country. The burka ban was a huge debate here, generating huge protests and discourse still going on today. It's an extremely divisive mesure but you clearely didnt care to pay attention to that, it's so much easier to make up a cartoonish image of a country in your mind than pay attention to how nuanced the real world is. We don't need american smartasses giving their two cents on a touchy debate they clearely don't care enough to research outside of reading some headlines and discarding 65 million people they barely know as xenephobic, when their own country does ten times worst on a weekly basis.
Ah ok youre just gonna drive by, drop some xenophobia then piss off when youre asked to justify it. Gotcha You can try to deflect by talking about my country but thats not what we're talking about is it? I brought up the subjugation because of that one idiots claims. I brought up the specifics of it because I was questioned about it. Crosses being taken down isn't really comparable to dictating religious garb. Nativity scenes being restricted to private property is not comparable to telling people they cant pray in public. There is a big difference between being secular and a country forcing its people to be secular. One seperates the church and state, the other subjugates a minority in an incredibly bigoted fashion. I never said that these laws were exclusive to Muslims, but theyve been awful specific. You ever see a nun wear a burkini? It doesnt matter which religious minority the French government is actively oppressing, they should be oppressing any of them dood. You dont see why this is wrong? Have u heard about the concentration camps set up by the British during the Boer wars? Its pretty fucked up but if the British started committing atrocities, it wouldnt make them less reprehensible because theyve done worse in the past. Just like France being bigots in the past doesnt make them less of bigots in the present. You can say the people dont support it but its the government making these decisions, the government thats been subjugating religious minorities for decades, and it hasnt changed so at least a majority of people support these things. I dont care how your country runs itself. I'm not a particular fan of your government's bigotry but I'm an outsider so who cares. But youre raising a generation of Muslim Minorities who are going to absolutely despise your government for not letting them practice their innocuous beliefs and culture in peace.
why did the dude with the chair just stop
Dude in white was about to apprehend a chair upside his head
Assault. I dont know the laws there, but he could have been charged with assault. It wasnt self defense for him, i think
I dont care how your country runs itself Then don't post about it and stop spreading lies and misinformation about topics you don't care to research further than reading inflamatory headlines. You first lied or was ignorant about the fact the governement targeted all religions. You know nothing of the history of far left anti clericalism in france theses laws come from. Then you admitted you didn't care when some religions got oppressed and only when some did. And ignored me when I said I didn't agree with theses laws, to keep acting like a knightly smartass. Youre just showing intellectual dishonesty & lazyness, nothing else.
