A Japanese University lowered women's test scores as a "necessary evil"

How about instead of encouraging off-topic discussion, we ignore the geelz and get back to the topic on hand, eh?
I don't know if I'd go that far, even their right eing parties take a better approach to trade than American ones, and their racism is a lot less overt than the Republicans or UKIP.
The fact their immigration is so extremely strict means minorities are VERY rare, meaning beating the bigot drum will be pretty hard to do.
Plus, aren't Koreans treated pretty poorly sometimes by the Japanese right?
oh my god shut the fuck up already. you do this same arrogant, smarter-than-you, asshole act in every single thread you post in. we get it, you think you’re great. congratulations.
"Worries". Japanese women are basically forced out of the workforce by being pushed into marriage and child bearing before 30. There's not much speculation on their end, they know it happens.
Your opinion isn't special just because lots of people think you're a fucking idiot because of it.
Is that even really the case across the board though? Far as I know, Japanese women pretty much have to work now because the economy can't comfortably support a traditional family now.
I've read that women in Japanese companies often get put into Office Lady jobs which perform menial work with almost no possibility of progression.
Exactly this. I think I have said stuff like this before, but as much as we LOOK appealing to tourists and such, our politics and education are fucked up and ass-backwards as hell. I was VERY lucky to be in a position to be able to go to a small, relaxed private high school without problems. In other words, we are not as special as the world thinks.
Not necessarily, I've seen plenty of women in various high level positions in Japan. It's more that Japanese work culture promotes Work > Everything, including having a family. So many are forced to choose between either having a family and returning to the workforce as soon after the child is able to start daycare or forgoing having children or a family entirely. Women aren't really being forced to marry before marriage, they are simply marrying latter or foregoing it entirely.
Japans statistic bureau states:
The mean age of first marriage was 31.1 for men and 29.4 for women in 2016. These were the same ages for both men and women as the previous year. The mean age of first marriage for men rose by 2.6 years, while that of women rose by 3.0 years over the past 20 years. (in 1996: grooms, 28.5; brides, 26.4). In addition, there has been an increasing trend in the percentage of lifetime non-marriages, reaching 23.4 percent for males and 14.1 percent for females in 2015, the highest percentages ever. The declining marriage rate, rising marrying age and increased choice of unmarried life in recent years as described above is one explanation for the dropping birth rate.
