I agree with all of what you're saying. But none of this applies to Alex Jones. He is literally a man who in a country with working healthcare (that isn't in the pockets of people with an agenda based on either money or politics) would be under treatment and councelling if not admitted at some ward. Where i live he might just be able to exist in his own bubble in some village or a neighborhood where people don't talk to each other. But if there was anyone in his life who cared for him, he would have been at least admitted and offered treatment and councelling. At this point where you can argue his behavior is harmful to others, any institution can and should mandate treatment.
I know AMerica is this fucked up dystopia where all these civic instutions and their systems of support are all gamed to discredit, disempower and control people who you deem harmful. Fact of the matter here is that where i live, this kind of corruption can't exist on this scale. any such attempt would lead to severe scrutiny of the one attempting such a power move.
Alex Jones opinions aren't born of a perception of reality. There are no facts or observations backing them, as i said before. THis genuinely disqualifies what he has to say as mad barking. A right-winger can talk about immigrants hurting people and be right about it. a progressive can talk about suicide rates of trans people being purely about persecution and nothing else. Both are opinions backed by observations and facts. It's not the whole picture for either case, but the basis for discussion is there.
Now tell me. Where do we start with Steel beams, Vapor trails, gay frogs and crisis actors? Where do we start with this political namecalling of shadowy non-existant boogeymen? The man is delusional and paranoid. he needs treatment and councelling. He would not be on-the--air in a world where people were emotionally healthy, sane and knew how to actually perceive and process information and how the world works.
So again, i agree with all of what you're saying. But this idea that there is no line is incorrect. he is absolutely nuts, he has nothing of value to bring to any political discussion. he is distorting and inventing too much. This kind of insanity does not belong in a healthy democracy and it doesn't belong in a country with proper mental health professionals at work. It really doesn't.
I can see where you are coming from, but sadly our country doesn't have any of those checks and balances that your country may have. So it is important that in terms or at least in scope of what the U.S deals with that we protect what we can, while we can. Until the U.S basically catches up with the rest of the world it is important we don't allow corporations to continue to gain power, even if it means allowing some insane asshole to keep talking. The insane people can be dealt with later, the battle to get back what we lost will be much harder.

That's not what hypocrisy is though, its saying one thing is wrong, then doing that thing. Just because someone doesn't like CNN or the NYT or some other news organizations, as long as they aren't shutting it down they are not advocating censorship. Protesting the message is one thing, protesting the right to exist on a public scale is another.
Sure, I'd love for Alex Jones and Fox News to be shut down, and I'd love the same to happen to Vice News, HP, the Verge, etc etc. That doesn't mean that given the power to make that happen I would, because to my knowledge they haven't done anything illegal, and they deserve a voice.
Yeah I don't know why people are pretending like this is some vanguard to the end of internet conservative commentary. If anything, tech companies like Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit have shown that they are completely okay with letting individuals and groups break the rules of their site and remain active.

That man is not conservative media, that man doesn't represent the protections of free speech. IN this day and age, that kind of language that he uses on a daily basis is equivalent to yelling fire in a theater. We have to be more careful with our language full stop because so many people feel so powerless that any identity that makes them feel protected or strong they'll latch onto.
