SEGA and Konami both are very likely to have funding directly from the Yakuza. Konami especially since Pachinko Parlors are how the Yakuza make a LOT of money.
After movies like Pixels and emoji movie made lots of dosh, I think investors are ready to just throw money at anything with a name or brand attached to it
Only Satan himself could do such a task
It should be noted that Sega also have pachinko parlours all over Japan. You just don't hear about them because Sega didn't go full retard and dump their gaming divisions expecting the government to legalise gambling.
Should I be weirded out that these entertainment companies are getting funded by what is essentially a Japanese mafia?
The Yakuza are a lot more than just a mob, we don't really have a western analogy for them. They function as an organized crime ground, but they also run legit business, and being a member isn't actually illegal
I am unironically so excited for this movie. We're finally getting it. An unironic, live action sonic movie. None of that anime movie crap, but something that may actually resemble this masterpiece: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/185499/87fc68f3-026b-4e25-9eb0-a4d8d481df13/Sonic_movie.jpg No movie will ever compare, I'm calling it now. The emoji movie, the bee movie, they're all going to bow to this.
Looks literally like a 90s headline.
I'm sorry, but everything with Jim Carrey in it just kind of becomes gold by default, I dunno how they could possibly fuck this.
At least that will be full animation. This shit is gonna be Smurfs, Chipmunks tier quality
This is gonna be like the woody woodpecker movie, oh god. Bleach your eyes.
If this ends up being legitimately good in any way I'm going to be disappointed, I want this thing in it's entirety to be a flaming train wreck.

I’m just imagining Sonic as John Ralphio https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Dc_6dlY5Qnk
Should have been Ben Kingsley, I remember JonTron saying Eggman looked like him
wonder what the 1981 connection is. Sonic didn't debut until '91 and there's no way that population number is a coincidence.
http://collider.com/sonic-the-hedgehog-movie-adam-pally-neal-mcdonough/ Marsden will play a small-town cop from South Dakota who ends up going on a road trip to San Francisco with Sonic the Hedgehog as they race against the evil Dr. Robotnik (Carrey) to recover Sonic’s rings. Pally will play a fellow cop, while McDonough’s role remains under wraps. I am genuinely looking forward to this film. Probably for the wrong reasons though.
