It's not the apartment owner's fault or the apartment's design's fault the adult/guardian stopped watching the child. It's no different than a baby sticking a fork in an outlet. It's your negligence that caused the child's death
Why even keep the balcony door open when you have toddlers? This is parental negligence, nothing more.
If they still don't understand it, you really should send them an article about this kind of situation, just to make sure they don't do it again.
Why weren't you with your son?
You have to watch these kids like a hawk, just looking away for a second and they could choke on something or fall off something, kids make me fucking nervous.
While i know the purpose of this thread is to point out the court case and the possible (as well as most likely) parental negligence, I'd rather take the chance to say how horrified I was of my sisters falling from heights when I was younger, especially around areas with poor railing. It was a hugely frightening thing for me because the thought of having someone you love fall from something and then possibly watch them plummet to their death gave me nightmares (granted I was only 12 years old when I was having these because my sister was 3 at the time, able to fully walk around of her own accord but not understanding the dangers of gravity), so around heights my eldest-sibling instincts would go into complete overdrive and I would force them to huddle around me for the fear of this very incident happening. This is one of my worst fears realized, and while I agree that the parents are probably angry and bereft at the fact their child is never coming back, I think this is purely motivated out of grief and nothing more. My condolences extend to the these poor people over the loss of their child. I consider myself so lucky that my sisters are safe given that both are very much on the autism spectrum and any number of things could've led to their injury, including their own obliviousness, and this is something that I'd never wish upon even the people I despise most in this world. Regardless of this family's questionable decision to sue the apartment owner, I cannot imagine losing either of my siblings in such a way. Sorry for the unrelated rant, I guess. Just counting my blessings.
Dude we have warning labels that say coffee is hot so yeah it's not that fall off to put on a window that says it can't hold any weight
it should be common sense whats next after that? Warning on knives "Warning, sharp!"
Send a giant warning label to the sun that warns UV radiation may cause cancer if not protected.
So OSHA is an act of a nanny state? Are you lead? Because what you're saying is really dense.
