• South Africa begins seizing white-owned farms

Black farmers don't know what they're doing?
"Maybe if we mistread them it'll make life better for us"
I highly doubt the farmers they bring in to replace the white farmers will have the experience needed to maintain the land. You come into every thread where race is mentioned and act like this. Maybe try to not be a disingenuous knob and actually try to understand what people are saying, rather than trying to paint everyone as racist?
Inexperienced farmers don't know what they're doing
This is a perspective of how bad it'd gotten from a south African ex-pat who now lives in china: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NAe6Qoy6u8 Again, it's one point of view, but when a westerner whose living in china, and whose entire youtube career is making click-bait videos on how bad some things about living in china are, still prefers it over SA that really says something.
Sad times.
Yes. It's in their genes that black people can't farm. Or it could just be a simple callback to what happened in Zimbabwe.
Farming isn’t easy and kicking out experienced farmers and replacing them historically fails. this has nothing to do with race
hmm lemme check https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2016/05/zimbabwe-drought-million-face-food-shortage-160516142445157.html Nope seems they don't
There's historical precedent for this happening in s neighbor's country. It's not racist to acknowledge there's a chance it will happen again. This may come as a shock, but someone can say something against a group of people who are the same race, and it have nothing to do with their respective race.
That or its probably because you're replacing farmers en masse and putting in-experience individuals in charge of the farms.
There's a big difference though: Zimbabwe was mostly farms and said farms provided for the entire country and most of its border nations. South Africa is less than 20% farms and already imports the majority of its food. If you think this even can cause a famine, then you simply have no idea what you're talking about.
Nelson Mandela is a terrorist? I was always reading that he was like a hero that tried incredibly hard to ease racial tensions and try to get past the racism of the country?
This farm and the city government in question are in the Limpopo region, directly north of Johannesburg, way north east of the Volkstaat region, other side of the country. The Boer are pretty irrelevant to this case.
That was after he went to jail for being a terrorist
Well shit, bye awesome South African wines, you will be missed.
Why the fuck are Western nations not getting in on this and taking the SA government to book? Bloody ridiculous.
Considering how recently the old Apartheid ended and how fucked up it was, this should surprise nobody. It's going to be literally hundreds of years until race relations in SA normalize. To be expected.

I never said it'd cause a famine though, so I don't know why you replied? I said that it's not racist to think that the people taking over might not know what they're doing or how to do it well, just because they happen to black, considering it has happened before in a similar fashion. How severe it was that time or will be this time as far as food shortages go is irrelevant to my point. It's common sense.
the stats are enough - 80% of farmland owned by less than 1% of the population...
What exactly are you saying? Be direct.
very well. i think this is a sort of comeuppance. this land was originally stolen by colonisers. it's returning to the hands of those who are actually from the country.
ah. so you're just ignorant, clueless, or actually stupid. Enjoy the famine
this is trite.
"returning to those actually from the country?" so afrikaners aren't actually from the country despite being born and raised there? so much for the rainbow nation
not originally, no. i'll repeat: inheritance is an illegitimate form of wealth/power and i am 200% in favor of the land returning to the public
So instead of giving the land to the relatives of the farmers who actually farmed on it, you want to give it people who may not even know how to farm?
inheritance is illegitimate but ownership is only valid for descendants of the right people? what type of galaxy brain shit is this?
i ought to clarify since i'm buzzing off here: i'm in favour of the land returning to public ownership under the state, rather than it being passed down generation by generation, remaining in the hands of very people who seized it for private ownership.
