I've seen a few women who i wouldn't want to have any sort of relations with whatsoever purely because they're terrible or just unlikable people. It's not impossible, just unlikely.

My university regularly hosts women-only events where the intent is to encourage them to take subjects like computer science, mechanical and electrical engineering and mathematics, because women are generally very unlikely to take these kinds of jobs. Nobody has a problem with this, because it wouldn't make sense for a man to attend an event geared specifically towards women. There is a social stigma against women taking STEM subjects and these events are trying to break that stigma. There are similar introduction events geared towards both genders, and men do not need an exclusive event like this because there is no social stigma against men taking STEM subjects. Gender-exclusionary events absolutely do have a place in education if the situation warrants it. What does not have a place though is elitist assholes like Daniel Z. Klein claiming that men are the literal devil and need to be discriminated. This situation could have been avoided entirely if the response wasn't the most inflammatory, dumb shit imaginable.

It's a shame that a lot of actions of inclusivity like these treat it all as a zero-sum game. You don't have to exclude one group of people to include another. Someone doesn't have to lose for everybody to win.

Sure, entry-level gender-exclusive events on the subject that said gender is culturally excluded from is fine by me. But notice the goals and means. In this case the exclusion of men is to encourage women to engage in subjects that they normally don't, and join men in STEM. They are not making STEM for women only. This is means to encourage women to actually join the male dominated space. It's the complete opposite of what's going on here. The exclusion here is the goal.
