• Tobacco companies are using Instagram to advertise cigarettes

Seriously ban fucking smoking already. I hate smoking but I'm too much of a weakling to manage stopping. When my mind says it wants something my body automatically moves to provide it. Especially with addictive substances. There not being easy access to sigarettes would make quitting a lot easier (I hope). Though I doubt governments would be motivated to get rid of this massive part of their income...
smoking shit in general is bad yes, but tobacco is uniquely toxic and cancerous to smoke. also unless you're snoop dogg, it'd be pretty difficult to smoke the amount of joints needed to match the exposure to smoke a 2-pack-a-day smoker goes through
Yeah I don't like vaping. The satisfying part of smoking is feeling the harsh smoke go through my lungs. I want to feel that cancer develop. Vaping is too smooth
Sure, but you gotta think about the effect that your actions have on people. If these corporations are unwilling to put the health of thousands/millions of people over their own bugatti veyrons or whatever then maybe there's a bigger problem in general?
Have you tried the new nicotine "salt" juice? The nic is of course in a salt form instead of freebase in glycerine, which somehow allows them to put more in it and it hits differently without being gross like old school high nic e-juice. Works best in smaller mouth-to-lung devices.
fair enough, i feel the same tbh. feels kind of like breathing oxygen through a mask at the hospital to me lol
Their products are addictive carcinogens. Name me one product besides cigarettes that when used as directed will cause even remotely as much damage. Which of the two is still legal to advertise?
My favourite argument people make is that because weed "cures cancer"* citation fucking needed * that smoking it doesn't do any harm to your body. Because you know, the byproducts of organic combustion care about stoner magic.
I work retail and close a whole lot. It's the most depressing feeling seeing the same handful of customers come in, buy the exact same cigarettes, and then come back the next day around the same time to pick up more. I have some people that come in a few times a week to buy one of the multipacks that can cost like $60-$70.
A lot of people dont realize that pot hasn't come under the same scientific scrutiny that tobacco has, for obvious reasons.
overriding national bans on selling cigarettes to minors in 3rd world countries so they can sell cigarettes to minors in 3rd world countries
Thats the nicotine. Just vape, it sounds cringey but at least it wont kill you. My granddad died of emphysema and it was a horrible way to go, would never wish it on anyone.
Mhm cigarettes can't wait to smoke another for that nicotine... mhmmmmm https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1302/ce05e137-501d-4d0a-a647-104c65b21bf4/image.png
Cigarettes are so bad even the current administration's FDA wants to regulate them
I started smoking because I ended up in a psychiatric ward due to a suicide attempt, and EVERYBODY there smoked. Also, the only way you could get permission to go outside was if you smoked, so it was almost implied that it was a good idea. I also didn't give a shit about my life or health, so it was just something to do to pass the time.
Worse than even asbestos
Isn't tobacco advertising illegal pretty much everywhere?
Yeah, pretty much And the reasoning behind its illegality it because they outright lie and manipulate facts as much as they can get away with. If they could tell children that it'll help them grow up big if they smoke 7 packs a day, they'd do it. So like, Cureless is kind of a giant idiot
Yea, internet advertising and social media is still relatively new and unregulated. Even without the lying you dont really want companies to advertise voluntary carcinogens. People who smoke dont need to be advertised to so tobacco ads are exclusively to aquire new consumers. Despite that, beer and liquor companies can still advertise on anything and so can marijuana distributors.
Just buy a vape instead man. They're the same experience as cigarettes now but extraordinarely less harmful.
I've tried a vape, but it's definitely not the same experience - I'm sorry. The kick in the back of the throat is gone and they make me cough like crazy. Also, my vape broke pretty quickly.
Thanks for the vape terminology suggestions lads. I'll see if I can find a good fix for the vape I have laying around. Hoping it'll get me off the death sticks into something a little less damaging.

Its honestly not the same at all. Half of smoking is the satisfying feeling of actually smoking, not just the nicotine. Vaping cant replace that, but it is a better alternative. And honestly vaping is a huge pain in the ass. Having to replace and maintain coils, refilling e liquid and staying stocked up on it sucks. Its so much easier to just open a pack of cigarettes and dispose of the butt when youre done. Not sure whats available in the UK but you can find guides on how to build a sub ohm setup for use with high nicotine content liquids. Gas station cigalikes also are pretty good.
If you spent a minute doing any sort of research on the rate of cancer caused by cigarette smoke versus that caused by cannabis smoke you would find that tobacco is infinitely more dangerous. "Smoke is smoke" is about the dumbest and most unscientific way of looking at it.
just smoke cock jfc
You're MASSIVELY wrong. I'm sorry, but weed is definitely, undoubtedly less dangerous by quite a margin than tobacco. It's still not at all good for you to be breathing in smoke, no, but weed is not carcinogenic. Please do research on this stuff before spouting nonsense...
Weed isn't, but the smoke is. Then again, studies have shown that it's significantly less dangerous for your health than cigarettes are, regardless of that fact. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1277837/
theres a reason smoking culture isnt as bad as alcohol culture, it was heavily regulated. did we forget how it wasnt that long ago where you could smoke indoors literally everywhere, in planes restaurants etc? the number of second hand deaths that caused.. yuck marijuana hasn't had a single overdose victim to date. so trying to equate cigarettes to joints in terms of health issues is a joke lol
I'd argue that breathing in any heated plant matter is going to damage lungs and increase risk of cancer, but I just meant that the substances themselves, AFAIK, are not carcinogens in a direct way. It's still preferable to vape weed, and a bong will marginally decrease health effects, but yeah... another thing is that people tend to smoke much less joints a day than they would cigarettes. CBD, present in weed, has also been shown to be effective at reducing risk of cancer. How much depends on the ratio of CBD to THC, I guess.
