And no effort have been made since to repel such an obviously racist notion? You'd think it would be one of the first things people would do to get rid of bigotry.
I imagine some mixed race people would be offended if you said they weren't black because they might see it as you denying their heritage or something like that.
If you're dark skinned people will think you're black, if you're light skinned people will think you're white. I know a mixed race person who is white as it gets and I've always thought of her as white even though she's half black. Like it or not, society looks at her as a white person, too. On the other end you can be super black but half white and society will look at them as a full black person. If someone is mixed and looks either mostly black or mostly white, people are going to assume they're one or the other. At that point its up to the person to politely correct you if you upset them by calling them one or the other. Calling someone like Kaep or Obama black is an honest mistake that I doubt anyone really gives s shit about.
Can we just take a step back and appreciate the hilarity of people proudly protesting the hiring of someone they don't like because he protested?
Why can't they be both white and black?
At least Nike stocks are going low. That's good.
Lighting the soil aflame he proclaims to love so much. Poetic.
For all the wrong reasons, though

Yo instead of burning the merch how about giving it to people who need it but thats just wishful thinking with these idiots.
There's no legal definition of race in the US anymore, AFAIK. I could list myself as Hispanic Black on the census, despite being 25% Belgian and 75% French, and knowing more Latin than Spanish. The classification of mixed-race people as nonwhite is purely cultural at this point - and is often based on self-identification. Bear in mind that mixed-race marriages were illegal in many states up until 1967, just 50 years ago, and popular opinion was against it for many years after. The 80s-90s generation is probably the first where treating "mixed" as a separate identity is even a thing.
I've seen more outrage over this than the league of pedophile priests running rampant in my state.
remember when this was a protest about police brutality and not some millionaire getting yelled at by rednecks and then used as an advert for a billion dollar company to sell overly expensive shoes to disadvantaged youth
As if the thought of giving has ever come close to their heads.
As someone who's mixed it's stupidly fucking annoying to be told every time I say anything "black" and get told "lol but ur not really black tho why u actin like that" when there's more to racial identity than actually just being flushed out a vag and having a tag put on you because of your colour.
If you look black you're going to be treated black. That's as simple as it gets.
Create a new label and get sensible people to join you

Dumb boomers, a guy who doesn't believe in statistics, and a woman who can't walk and breathe at the same time. Yep, it's a Trump rally alright.
Kaepernick using his social power to make money is dumb. The catch phrase in the add is meaningless and dumb. The people getting mad are dumb. Give it a week and no one will care about any of it.
How many months has trump been raging about the kneeling so far?
Just Do It has been Nike’s slogan since forever, dude. or if you’re referring to the Believe In Something quote, what makes it so dumb?
It really applies to both, but specifically in this context. It's dumb because it works to encourage bad things just as much as good things.
Using social power to make money is the whole point of celebrity advertising.
It's all but impossible to both fight a moral fight while also gaining tons of money for shilling a corporate brand in the name of that fight.
He's been an activist before the collaboration with nike. That's why the idiots are mad at Nike right now, actually. Remember the whole kneeling thing. That's literally just an excuse to dismiss his point.
I'm sure people said the same thing when the protests started and yet here we are, still talking about it.
