From what I've heard they're basically forcing publishers to disclose exactly what types of "objectionable" content their games contain before they put them on the store. If someone were to deliberately lie in order to get past content filters, that'd basically be a quick way to get themselves banned off the store.

Big budget games like that probably won't do it. Steam users need to opt-in to see adult games, and they'd lose a ton of sales since most people are idiots and won't even know the adult option exists.

Also they'd still have to answer to physical retailers, too. Doesn't matter if Steam allows it, retailers will refuse to stock those games.

I mean Cyberpunk 2077 is going that route. There is full nudity in the game even for the main character, and in the trailer alone the main character wakes up in bed with a random one-night-stand who just fucks off without a word.

Some of them actually have good gameplay. I remember my friend gave me a copy of Daibanchou once, it was actually a really fun strategy VN thing that unfortunately got occasionally interrupted by graphic gang rape scenes.
