Pfff hahaha you think that, under a private system, companies would bother building fucking clinics just for a couple dozen people? That's not even close to profitable, they wouldn't break even in their wildest dreams. You do know that running nonprofitable yet necessary services is the purpose of the public sector, right? It's pretty telling that those who support economically conservative policies don't know the first thing about running a business. Only people who have no idea what they're talking about would be fine with letting private entities run the show unchecked.
Pff haha but even a clinic in the town over requiring an hour long drive would be an improvement over fuck-all.
That's where community comes into play. If everyone bands together and helps each other out, finances wouldn't be an issue in this situation and even if they were, good luck evicting 10's-100's of people from their homes due to missed payments when they're all protecting one another. The minimum wage was set intentionally low, and costs of living have been set intentionally high over the years to deter any pro-union, or pro-worker's rights movements due to paycheck-paycheck living; and so far it's worked. The current fracturing of people based on political lines has only further strengthened this tactic in recent years since no one actually wants to work together.
"Im just going to say all the data is false because it doesn't fit my narrative." Must be chugging that coolaid if you honestly think people like the woman in the article doesn't exsist, but also think pizza gate is real. Dan Schneider Conspiracy
You need both.
this. tbqh, if most people had a >160 IQ (Like I do), they would know that capitalist economics are doomed to fail. While they were listening to justin bieber in highschool I was studying marx and engels and therefore have pondered the importance of fair wages. honestly, I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who thinks about this stuff. It's really hard being smart sometimes :/
Oh, I think people like Vanessa exist. I just don't think Vanessa herself exists. But even if she does, I don't think NYT are spotlighting her because they want to get her out of the situation she's in but rather as a person-of-the-moment to get people to click on the article for that sweet ad revenue, lest we forget that the NYT are a capitalist company themselves. Please stop pinging me.
The person wasn't even in the title or even the header image, how would generating her get you clicks if she wasn't advertised at all ffs. 80% of the article talks about the title and sources it with data. But I guess we can make a liberal conspiracy to drown out the point by pulling baseless accusations out our asses. Get off the koolaid, its causing massive brain damage.
He's not totally wrong. Consumption patterns, work ethic, and other cultural norms matter.
That or they're cozy with said private entities and benefit from such an atrocious system
Oh you mean like in your country where rural areas struggle to get any form of coverage what so ever "In network"? You're so full of fucking lies and misinformation that you're too far gone. Insurance companies often fail to service rural areas at all adequately and here you are shit talking Canada for having less than perfect rural coverage. Your. Country. Does. It. Worse. In. EVERY. Way. I am so tired of hearing, and seeing you tell blatant lies.
I think I saw this article on BasicIncome the other day
Or... They're trying to bring attention to the issue? Obviously they want revenue, they're a company (something I'd think you'd support considering the business views I've seen from you in the past), but that doesn't mean that a given article's only purpose is to generate revenue. If you don't want to be pinged then delete your account. Otherwise quit whining about people pinging you. They have every right to do so, especially when you're spouting stupid shit.
In the past, I would of spouted that violence isn't the answer and shit. But now, I consider it just as valid as nonviolence. And that upsets me.
