• Nintendo will delete your cloud saves if your online subscription expires

The Nintendo Switch Online service is looking to be less and less worth it. Unless they really restructure this service and add more stuff on top of that, I'm not getting a subscription anytime soon. To paraphrase a post I saw on my Tumblr feed: It's bizarre how Nintendo is simultaneously the most avant-garde/experimental AAA developer (popularized motion controls, made a successful handheld/console hybrid, helped save the games industry in in the 1980's by re-branding video games as toys) and the most conservative behind the times AAA developer (constantly a generation behind in online connectivity, refuse to have sales, constantly go after emulation websites and fan projects, etc.)
I hope the backlash will be enough to convince them to change things up like the 3DS pricing controversy.
I assumed it was to counteract how large his head was in psychological terms.
Another good excuse for modding your switch lmao
Hehey, did your credit card recently expired, creating a small halt in all of your subscriptions until you updated them? Well, fuck you, buddy. Eat shit and say good bye to your saves. Thanks for shilling me your money for nothing, dumbass! I don't understand, do they see Sony's dickery as something of a challenge?
nintendo why cant you be normal for one second when it comes to business decisions

yes they listen thats why we're unable to communicate in any way shape or form with people on our friends lists, still have friend codes, have no virtual console, have splatoon rank info stored on the client, have splatoon be fuckin p2p, have 0 usability features on the switch os
Ye sure lemme just take out a loan real quick to pay the NES Mini's target customer base of scalpers.
Online subscriptions services for video game consoles was just one big fat fucking mistake. Yeah, some of the them at least try to sweeten the pot with their 'deal', but in general, I think its done more harm than good, and often brings the worst out of each company. I'm sad that it has become the standard for basically every modern console now. Especially for Nintendo, I worry if what service they might force upon their next hand-held gaming device if this is how they're going to operate now.
Ironically, I use Homebrew to backup my saves and store them in Drive for free. If Nintendo knew that, they'd probably have a heart attack!
I was at best buy this week and they had both the nes and snes minis at msrp. i suppose this can be different based on region tho
Bloody ell, did they start making them again? Last I checked, the supply dried up right quick and Nintendo specifically said they wouldn't make any more.

I mean, that's probably "good enough" for most people, but this is still just a way to pressure people into renewing their subscription.
boo, most professional cloud service companies give a year to recover files before deletion
They don't work like Microsoft or Sony or other companies. Nintendo is a traditional company. Revealed in a Splatoon 2 interview, one of the devs gave insight that Nintendo does decisions what they think is best for the customer where the customer doesn't know what's good for him. Kinda like how tea is not served with sugar in a Cafe and asking for sugar to your tea won't get you anything. But coffee will be delivered with sugar. Most of this applies to their games and not to their other services. Additionally, I remember some marketing guy (?) doing a presentation once at Nintendo HQ and talking about the competition. And he kept mentioning Playstation Store or Xbox Live and one of Nintendo's upper guys had to interrupt his presentation because he told him that "no one in this room has ever used such a service" so they couldn't follow him. They go their own way in developing stuff like this.
Sony actually only keeps the information on their server for 6 months too.
