https://www.abqjournal.com/1222935/sunspot-observatory-closure-sparked-by-child-porn-investigation.html According to the search warrant, agents seized the laptop. Agents say that when the janitor returned the next morning, unaware of the seizure, he claimed to be “missing some cleaning supplies” and asked if anyone had been in the office. The chief observer told agents the janitor began complaining about “lax security” at the facility and claimed someone was breaking into the facility at night to steal internet service and toilet paper. As time went on, agents say the janitor’s actions grew increasingly “frantic” and he continually approached the chief observer with questions and comments about missing items. “(The janitor) had continued to look feverishly through the facility and continued to make comments about the lax security,” an agent wrote in the search warrant. Agents say the janitor mentioned that decoy security cameras “were a joke” and it was only “a matter of time” until the facility “got hit.” The FBI decided to shut down the facility after the chief observer became concerned for his personal safety when the janitor said there was a serial killer in the area and was fearful that the killer might “enter the facility and execute someone.” TL;DR janitor was using a facility laptop and the facility communications to look at CP while on the job, and when the laptop was confiscated he got increasingly agitated that he was going to be caught and escalated to indirectly threatening to kill people at the facility.
they needed to evacuate the entire facility, bring in blackhawks, and not tell the local police anything for THAT?
What a load of bullshit. There is no way that something small time like that would warrant such a response.
Stop hiding the lizard people, I want to fuck one. Also, his threats better have been credible and dangerous to the surrounding area. Otherwise they overcompensated.
i fell asleep mad last night at how terrible of an excuse this is. i pay my tax dollars for this shit, come up with something better.
And why is the FBI involved? why wouldn't he be arrested by local police like, at home?
Exactly, its like the national guard turning up to respond to a shoplifting.
Aren't names made public when these accusations are made? We should be seeing a named court case and a sex offender register entry right? Should be easy enough to prove.
Look, that's pretty irrelevent. Whether it did or didn't, he would always say that it didn't see aliens.
It's child porn... the US is extreme when it comes to CP charges. We even charged a minor as an adult for being his own victim AND perpetrator for having nude photos of himself on his phone. I think he was forced into a plea deal where he was on probation for a year, though
FBI being involved isn't the problem. a few field agents working with local authorities would be reasonable, not calling in helicopters, kicking out people who work there AND at the local post office, not telling the local cops jackshit.
Child Porn is under FBI jurisdiction and considering how the FBI has supremely fucked up over mass shooters falling under the radar, they probably didnt want to take any chances. If it were aliens or espionage, it wouldnt be the FBI who gets involved. Plus FBI HRT is probably super fucking bored these days and is looking for any chance to bring the blackhawks our of the hangers.

How is this weird. The child porn aside, the dude was making weird claims. Maybe part of the response was in relation to that crime. If this truly was some secret operation involving spies and shit I doubt very much any of the information would travel out this fast.
They guy was making vague threats about attack the facility.
His "weird claims" were all about fishing for answers as to where his CP laptop went without acknowledging that he's noticed the laptop missing, and nobody came out and told him, making him freak out and get more and more frantic about finding and securing (and presumably trying to reformat to destroy the evidence) the dirty laptop. He was trying to play the plausible deniability card while also behaving incredibly suspiciously. I've seen such behaviour in alcoholics who think they're not visibly alcoholic and their habit is on the verge of being exposed conclusively. Paranoia and a consuming obsession with seemingly inconsequential objects/places (which are actually hidden booze stashes or places the alcoholic goes to sneak a chug) and who has been snooping around them. And if the observatory was pumping its Internet connections wirelessly, then there are likely routers in the antenna assemblies. The FBI would want to take forensic examination to those antennas as part of getting evidence from the entire chain between the CPtop and the outside internet so they have an open-shut case on him. The FBI doesn't leave anything off the table when nailing a criminal.
And I'm also sure they wanted to make sure there wasn't any sort of CP ring either.
Yea id rather just deny reality and pretend this was a shadow op perpetrated by the illoominahti to cover up spaec allens.
