I think the most surprising thing for me is the fact it had to have Nintendo have an official gameplay mechanic before artists started to create a rule 63 version of Bowser/Bowser-fied Peach considering how long the franchise has been, how popular it is in general and how quick and fast these lewd artists are in their work and imaginative they are in their ideas to satisfy every degenerate fetish out there

There was plenty of Bowser-fied Peach art before this, just of the "corrupted Peach" type (given how much she's kidnapped, Stockholm Syndrome seems pretty reasonable). And the Rule 63 Bowser was more scalie, and not borrowing from Peach in any way.

Comiket has a much broader market focus than one specific Super Mario OC, though, and it's not (necessarily) all about smutty doujins.
