Can't wait for "Artifact: The Fake Outrage" from Shaun.
Does he know about Facepunch? It'd be hilarious if venemousbeetle took center stage in this one.
It's funny how to some people this is so blatant, because to them the word black practically means black politics. Some neckbeard who just loves magic thought red = aggression, white = protection, green = power and eventually black = sacrifice. If anything he's made a connotation between evil and cracking a whip on someone, just like most black magic is "Rot person" or "Eat to death with rats" or "Re-use corpse". What other color are you going to use for something as evil as whipping war slaves?
i came to see why this thread had 4 pages and what the heck
"some neckbeard" is probably the dude who made magic in the first place.
Richard Garfield actually created the concept of CCG itself
Not gonna lie, the artwork is perfect for this card though. Hits the whole point of the card, and the cultural symbolism fits it perfectly. Sucks that the artist is a neo-nazi shithead.
I'm enjoying the casual racism here. Neat thing to do when you type out a comment like this, every time you type "white" replace it with black and read your comment again
yes because white people have a history of being enslaved, oppressed, and systematically discriminated against by black people in the US.
oh yeah I get it because black people, by definition, can not be racist because of their ethnic history in the united states of america.
Sure but black people also have a history of being sold by other black people into slavery. Also if you want to count their light skin tone as white the Greeks have a history being slaves so j guess it's not just black people that have that. Odd how history works.
in the US do u know how to read or not
Apparently you don't either going by your ratings
Holy shit, why is calling for diversity is "racist" to you guys?
Forced diversity is racist, actual real diversity is a good thing.
My apoglizes if I'm being dumb, but what's "force" diversity
This is a bunch of people working on a game for years then stepping back and noticing that "wow, this sounds really bad out of context" Someone pointed this MTG card out to me https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/112373/907565d7-d1fe-411b-b867-a570d128004c/feel_the_color-img799x1101-1516855669osdlfg25394.jpg Why is it relevant? because it's the 1488th magic card ever produced.
Affirmative action is one good case. Anything that benefits one race over another is a racist policy. If a company is diverse because a diverse set of employees were hired on merit, that's the best thing in the world.
The issue is that there are many forces that affect the number of candidates with merit there are in any particular group in the first place. Merit has been hereditary for ages. Parents' income is one of the best predictors of a child's income, at least in the US. Having said that, I still think quotas and stuff are a bad idea, doing stuff to improve the lives of poor children and help them academically would probably be more productive.
The solution is to help all people equally. Instead of affirmative action being "hire more <race here> people because I'm racist and think they need lower standards", it could be "help poor people". And so on for every issue it tries to solve.
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
We get it, you hate white people.
You should probably consider the fact that historical justification for prejudice is very common throughout history, then the result of that consideration it to your own post.
Racism is racism. You should stop trying to justify yours.
Look, if you're really hung up on the term "racism" being used to describe anything other than systematic racism, then let's just call it prejudice. If you're prejudiced against white people, you're still a dick, even if you don't have the ability to systematically enforce it on people through the power of law.
Also, a black cop who hates white people has a huge amount of institutional power above a standard white dude. Power dynamics are extremely variable and trying to go "black people can't be racist to white people ebcause white people have POWER" is the most goddamn naive idea.
I understand, but try telling that to the people that believe every cop in america is evil and complicit in powering the white supremacist engine. I mean, I have no doubt that there are seriously corrupt police departments in a lot of major cities, but I struggle to believe literally every one of them is as bad as New York or Ferguson. But I mean, painting with a wide brush is what these people do best.
