do you need to be explained what this thread is about? it is a school, it affects school kids educational lives. you spent an entire page moaning about one person criticising your country.
I think we've given up on digging up facts and statistics on shooting and healthcare issues in these threads because of exactly your counter "argument". I'm literally showing you that Europe as a whole, which is not one country, but many that don't even get on by and large, are putting your one country to shame. Even the worst of the countries in the EEA have a better healthcare system than I would imagine some of your best states, granted they might not have better hospitals but they won't be going into debt because Grandma Jorgenslurv took a knock to the hip. You can't pass the buck to the excuse that states are different, the united states is one country, if it's fragmented and unfair based on which part of the country you were born in, that's an even bigger problem than the one I mentioned above.
there are some poor, struggling countries in europe sure. but their school kids don't need to be taught about what to do if a maniac breaks in a shoots all their friends to death. address the criticism, stop derailing your own thread.
I'm moaning about multiple people drive by sniping the thread and providing no meaningful input other then "fix your problems lol". Furthermore the topic of the thread is Transgender rights. Its not about "education" other then that this particular incident happened to be at a school. The problem is that a bunch of dumbass school employees at this school are either transphobic or give in to pressure from transphobes and in the process they enacted what is perhaps the stupidest policy in the universe of "well shit if theres a school shooting why doing you go sit in the hallway and die". The solution to this problem is to have federal regulation of how school drills are done, and to try and eradicate transphobia in our school system through education, outreach, and any other myriad of methods. Another solution to help mitigate this particular problem would be to try and fix the cesspit of the US Mental Health system and require clean bills of mental health to procure firearms, as well as regular mental health checkups for firearm owners.
US mental health is so shit because our culture and society are broken at a fundamental level and no amount of mental health professionals will be able to fix it without literal brainwashing
Except I showed you that that is not entirely the case. According to the quality of life index that I posted previously exactly 14 European nations have a better quality of life then the US. Spain, Portugal, Italy, Poland, The Czech Republic, Greece, etc have lower quality of life ratings then the US. I am actually backing up my argument with facts. At this point all you've done is sling strawmans and ignore what I'm telling you.
it's just this attitude to avoid talking about the issues people care about then insulting europe as if it's one entire nation. your solutions are also weak as shit. your problems of killing sprees are not open and shut cases and neither is this transgender discrimination. there is a mental health epidemic across the globe, yet you figure "eh just fix it, by the way fuck you euro weenies, you're way shit too".
>Healthcare system Your healthcare system exists solely to benefit the suits. Having something like breaking your ankle can get you thousands of dollars in debt or getting bitten by a snake even more. Now imagine something uncontrollable like cancer and you wish to receive long term treatment? Yes you can go on health insurance but who says that's affordable for all? The healthcare industry over there is run like a fucking business and don't give a shit about your health. Having an accidental or uncontrollable medical accident can send you into a life time worth of debt, or even getting mental healthcare can cost a stupid amount. This isn't anything new and it is beyond me how you don't realize this. How can you call this a not shit healthcare system? >Nice mass shootings Lol Do I really need to link sources for this? And these studies "did not consider gang-related or drive-by shootings, as well as hostage-taking incidents, robberies, and shootings in domestic settings." >Nice infrastructure https://www.infrastructurereportcard.org/ When was the last time you actually saw someone say something good about Americas overall infrastructure? There are quite a few news articles talking about this and trump even revealed a 1 trillion+ plan to fix it cause its so bad >Nice gang violence https://www.fbi.gov/investigate/violent-crime/gangs "Some 33,000 violent street gangs, motorcycle gangs, and prison gangs are criminally active in the U.S. today" Gangs Blamed for 80 Percent of U.S. Crimes As many as 1 million gang members are believed responsible for as much as 80 percent of crime in America -- and the gangs are spreading across the country, according to a Justice Department gang threat assessment. As of 2011 this reached up towards of 1.3 million gang members so I doubt the numbers have changed much. Gang related violence regularly pops up in your media, do you not pay attention? >Nice blatant warmongering corrupt governments for god knows how long now Selling arms to Saudi Arabia Selling arms to what would eventually become radical islamist groups Still supporting Israel despite the fucked up shit involving Palestine Bombing innocents in the middle east Overstaying your welcome in middle eastern countries ever since the War on Terror All the political lobbying and much more in terms of political corruption. Take your fucking pick >Nice student loan debt I don't think an overall student loan debt of 1.5 trillion is a good thing... which makes up roughly 7.5% of your total GDP. You can just google america student loan debt and you'll have your answer. >Nice police brutality Have you not been paying attention to your media for the past 5 years? Are you really going to be a smartass and ask for this? >Nice direction your social rights are going in >Nice current social divide with the recent extremism in politics Have you not >Nice homicide rate that is on par with South America and parts of Africa Was bit of an exaggeration I admit but it is in the same area of many developing countries that I doubt anyone would ever want to live I can't tell if you asked for me to backup all this up because you just don't want to realise your country has these problems or if you just really wanted to try get me into a corner, though I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and go with the later since anyone paying attention to the American media and social/ political issues within the last five years I really doubt would not be aware of all of this. Or are you just going to argue back saying "lol not enough sources, not legit enough or too anecdotal!!!!"
People in this thread where insulting the entire US as if it was a homogeneous single entity. Furthermore I implore you to locate the part of any of my posts where I "Insulted europe" Also how are my solutions shit? Can you go into details? Can you show me where I said fuck you euro weenies? Can you show me where I said you guys where shit?
This still means you're way behind the classic notion of western Europe though. I could make the exact same argument as you are making as factual proof that the US pretty much sucks.
>Yup US health care shit. I have no stated otherwise >Yup the US has a lot of mass shootings. I never stated otherwise >Yup a lot of the US has shitty infrastructure. A lot of the US also has barely an population, is dirt poor, and prone to extreme weather that significantly erodes the infrastructure. >Yeah we got a lot of gang violence in some areas too. Mostly in the poor parts of large cities. >Well lets see. -Selling arms to bad countries https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/uk-arms-deals-sales-countries-human-rights-abusers-bahrain-saudi-arabia-israel-caat-bae-systems-a7853416.html -UK also participated in middle east airstrikes -UK still has some commercial ties to Israel, also https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/israel-war-crimes-palestine-uk-protests-war-on-want-a8401361.html etc Look the fact of the matter is that, guess what, the majority of these criticisms are factually correct. The thing is that, since the US is not entirely homogeneous these problems are non existent in some aareas and horrible in others. What I've been trying to say from the start is that Its unfair to make a sweeping generalization of the entire US because some parts of it are shitty. There are plenty of perfectly liveable and indeed pleasant parts of the US. I'm not saying that these problems should not be fixed either. I believe that the US's number one priority is to sort its shit out ASAP. But I don't believe it to be fair to apply these criticisms as a generalization of the entire US, just as it would be unfair to criticize the whole of Europe because of of some of the shitty parts.
Listen you fucking eurocucks shut the fuck up about school shootings okay, every country has their problems we've got children buying kevlar to learn Algebra and rolling the dice everytime they walk out in public and you guys have taxes which are a little bit higher than ours okay nobody is perfect
Shit, we're busted lads.
I really don't understand why people have serious problems with any of this analysis. Nobody is saying that America is the worst fucking country in the world (well, except for the batshit insane communists who think it earns the number one spot solely because it's the center of capitalism, but that's anther topic entirely). But it is almost certainly dead last as far as "first world" countries go. As bad as the problems are that other countries like the UK, South Korea, and Japan are facing, we still manage to fuck things up worse than any of them by the sheer quantity of our systematic issues. It's really that simple.
