CD Projekt Red employee doxxed after GOG.com tweet used a trans movement hashtag

I'm going to buy CP77, and not be ashamed over it because some dumb twitter shitposts don't concern me.
If you specifically avoid buying a game just because of this then damn, you are being childish as fuck. Complaining about people in the past-tense of this even happening is even worse.
They've made a few bad tweets, and it's really uncalled for. But PR is a large company, with many different people with different views working there.
I know most of Witcher 3's plots had strong progressive themes, with for instance one character and sidequest involving blacksmiths with very feminist tones. And in the end that's their work that had the most reach and the most impact on people, not twitter. Cyberpunk2077 does look like it's following that trend too. I believe most devs there actually cares, but they have very sloppy PR people managing their twitters.
Honestly I believe the beliefs of few edgy employee shouldn't hurt a company, especialy when their actual output is progressive in tone.
honestly what fucking child cares about a fucking tweet lmao. its just a hashtag get the fuck over it and focus on actual issues instead of some PR guy just using a hashtag to sell a cheap game.
oh great another thing that people will use to try and guilt trip me out of playing cpk2077, because the first twitter incident wasn't enough clearly. it's not going to work. im done i don't care about anything anymore i am going to play this FUCKING game no matter what
Literally no one's telling you to not buy their game based on a made up story by Ian miles cheong and a bad tweet lol settle down losers
no one is gonna guilt you out of playing a game because a social media employee made a shitty tweet without screening
Do ppl on this website forget how to read
i wish you were right
Idk I'm gonna buy Cyberpunk 2077 n I'm trans and I think cdpr is fuckin stupid, it's not hard to just put what people make in another box
I am right, and no one who is actually worthwhile, important, significant, etc. in the more progressive communities is actually going to blow this up outside of performative fake-woke folk - unless gog, cd projecktred, etc, dig a huge hole with this
you're being reactionary to a nearly non-existent problem, which perpetuates distaste towards actual progressive views; and that's playing into the hands of the idiots like the guy who wrote this article.
Take it from someone who used to be the company social media goblin. In general those accounts are being given to marketing or PR interns or someone looking to fill time. We were usually given vague direction by upper management on what to do with the tweets and posts for the day/week. Usually isolated from everyone else in the building and having only each other to talk to. So 99% of the time, those views won't align with the rest of the company if they turn out to be extreme. As for post content, unless you are given specific instructions, you are given free reign to do whatever you want as long as you don't anything stupid. And if you do, they make you write those non-apologies. This is pretty universal to almost any company operating in Europe and the North America.
What is really bad here is that CD Project either didn't get rid of the intern or their standards for the one given those accounts are really bad.
"Business practice"
their bad PR isn't a part of their business practice. If they were deforesting trees or actually banning trans people from being hired, or putting very anti-trans messages in their games that'd be far different and worthy of protest. A few tweets infrom a dumb intern isn't.
well, i did see a lot of people honestly saying to not buy the game after the other tweet with the shitty "did you just assume my gender??? xDDD" joke, and i see similar situations happen from time to time, so i guess i'm concerned that the fallout is only going to get worse.
but actually you're certainly right that i'm being reactionary and probably freaking out about it too much. it's certainly not a "fucking le sjws trying to ruin my vidyagaems" thing, it's mostly just pointless worrying that just bc i want to play a videogame or something i'm gonna get painted as a Bad Person by... i don't even know who. so i guess that illustrates your point well
The company hasn't shown an interest in shitting on transpeople. A Twitter account made a shitpost. Get over yourself. Quit bullshitting, it's a bad look.
I really don't think a few people using memes for wider appeal really reflects on an entire company. Not buying their games over this is dumb, this controversy already probably sent them the message. if you want an actually good reason not to buy their games or support them, how about their work conditions?
that's because it only started recently, in light of recent news with the whole trump foundation thing and whatnot
This isn't the first time they do this on their channels, however ( like several already said before ). And their non-apology doesn't even improve the situation.
I'm on the side of the ones who think that we must place all of the company for the acts of a few, but it doesn't help to think they are respalding them since there's no kind of punishment every single time. And like Breadman said, while these accounts are managed by PR personnel/business unrelated with the main company, CDProjekt is ultimately responsible of taking care about their quality ( because after all they are their mouths ).
And then ofc we have all the alt-right mobilizating their gamer userbase to counter attack this, as we seen with Ian Miles and other infamous people to paint us once again as "SJW snowflakes unable to take a joke and having to add politics into everything".
Is hard to keep being neutral when you are getting stepped over by almost everybody just because you are part of the LGBT group. Is tiresome.
Cry me a river
well fuck, I found it off reddit
Someone on their twitter saw a trending hash tag and made a dumb dad joke. Bitching and moaning about petty shit like this only makes you look high on drama.
I'm sorry but, trans people wonder why people perceive them as fragile. This is why.
I have never even heard of the hashtag until this drama popped up. An employee saw a trending tag and used it without even checking what it was for. It was a bad move, and there was never any intention of shitting on anyone.
You're just going to have to accept the fact that not everyone is up to date on the US's politics, and shit like this will happen.
As harsh as it sounds, you're not wrong. But it's more about certain online trans communities, not trans people as a whole.
Some tweet that was made up by some random employee does not equate to the views of the company as a whole. Besides, all I see it is some tasteless joke, it's a rather petty thing to be mad about.
I got to say though, I hope they get someone else to run GOG's twitter. Not because of that particular tweet, but because I want news on deals and new releases, not a constant stream of obnoxious memes and gifs.
Shit, people don't like being demeaned and have their serious issues turned into jokes?!??
Fucking snowflakes man

I know people are mad because this isn't the first time. Wether or not your care, It's just unprofessionnal for a corporaion to have their twitter cracking bad edgy jokes on twitter.
My post above still stands, and what breadman said. It's probably just the guys behind their twitter being idiots. I can assure you most devs barely know what the twitter of the company is doing and are just focused on the game unknowing of what the PR people are doing.
I would assume a place of ignorance + attempt at a looser, more "viral friendly" marketing like other companies have done + not being in the same political climate in the US where the government is doing shit like this.
They should definitely be smarter about their shit, and hopefully whoever greenlit the social media stuff gets sorted and informed on why it was a problem.
Considering you have a rather robust history of posting shit sources, a large surprise this is.
Reminds me a lot of the digornio #WhyIStayed thing
Didn't IMC used to be the exact opposite kind of dude he is now? Like, super far on the left? How does somebody flip that hard.
