• CD Projekt Red employee doxxed after GOG.com tweet used a trans movement hashtag

I'm not going to go ahead and jump to the conclusion that these tweets represent the views of CDProjectRed as a whole, but seeing this shit come from an official twitter account of a major company in 2018 is extremely unnerving. The far right is having such a massive resurgence over the last few years world-wide, and trasngender people as a whole probably feel more fearful for their well-being than they have in a long while - to say nothing of all the other minority groups that are also being affected. These kind of jokes only contribute to this frightening atmosphere, and they generally only resonate with the worst kinds of people in the world. (I'm not saying anyone who has ever laughed at a "did you assume my gender" joke is scum. But at this point, anyone who still thinks that's the pinnacle of humor is at very least almost certainly an asshole.) If CDProjectRed doesn't clean up GOG's act, and soon, I'm not sure I'm going to feel comfortable buying Cyberpunk 2077, despite how much I've been anticipating it ever since the 48 minute trailer dropped. However, I respect people's decision to buy the game in my stead - there is ultimately no ethical consumption in the crony capitalism we have right now, so choosing to support or boycott a product ultimately depends on your personal values more than any absolute, quantifiable standards of morality.
If that Reddit post about him being a literal shill is true it wouldn't surprise me if his far left/anti-gamergate stuff was just because of where he happened to be working at the time. I find it very dificult to beleive someone could make such a drastic switch in opinion in only a couple of years, though he seems to be crazy no matter what position he's taking.
He's not the only extreme left that jumped sides though, but maybe one of the few that went straight to the extreme again. Didn't Laci Green not only jump, but also start dating one of the pundits that had criticized her views/videos?
Chris RayGun yeah.
The government is LITERALLY trying to takes these people rights away No shit they are little on the edge, and no shit that they getting pissed off that they are, extensively, made fun of by a studio that is literally making a game based on a genre that was popularize by trans activism and ideology?
He was a neo-nazi before then, swung hard left, and then swung back far right again. He's all over the place.
I see this as less CDPR/GOG deliberately spreading hate speech and transphobia like so many people claim them to be, and more their community management just being ignorant to what does and doesn't fly on the internet. Less legitimately hating on trans people and spreading hate, more out of touch people leaping before they think. Calling them out on their ignorance is not wrong, but maybe it should be done in a more "educational" sense instead of jumping straight to witch hunting and labeling EVERYONE IN THE COMPANY something that the majority of developers there probably aren't. I seriously doubt everyone at CDPR and GOG are transphobic bigots. Really, doing such a thing puts you in no better shoes than you think they're wearing. I would agree with the stance that maybe they should reformat their community management though. 3 instances of ignorance like this is a good bit too much.

anyone stop to think that maybe they didn't know that hashtag was used for a rights movement? I've literally never seen it before this.
Idk, it seemed like the person using the hashtag knew exactly what it was or else why even use the tag? The apology claimed it was a pun as well which I don't even get at all... How is it a pun?
Using a popular hashtag to make a pun regarding GoG's mission statement isn't making fun of anybody. It's a single tweet in a sea of hundreds of thousands. It's completely innocent. Save your energy for the actual problem instead of shitting down the throat of a bystander that makes a silly joke about said problem.
Ian Miles Cheong used to blog for Milo under a category called Incel's Corner. which probably tells you what kind of source he is.
Those fucks writing these articles have done more harm to actual people than the cringey interns working on CDPR's twitter account, and yet there are still some people who are more mad about the intern than the bigots who literally lies for money.
They made a bad tweet, how could you support them!? >meanwhile a bunch of horrible shit happens in the industry every day and nobody bats an eye
why would you doxx people, it just shows how much of a lowlife you are.
The article don't do favors for LGBT or game journalists as they make them look like extremely aggressive persons.
I'm not sure what to think about CDPR's record for dumb tweets when it comes to Cyberpunk 2077. On the one hand, It might just be a clueless social media PR dude trying to adopt internet memes in their marketing, as companies have been trying to do for years- only, nowadays the most popular internet running jokes all seem to be politically charged jabs at certain groups of people instead of harmless cringe like ~le troll faic~. On the other hand, I can't help but think this is a deliberate attempt to gain some good standing with online right wing reactionaries prior to the release of a game that will likely have some strong political themes that those kind of people will be tripping over themselves to complain about. Cyberpunk as a genre deals with lots of topics that could get CDPR labelled as a preachy SJW libtards in a time where "having a gay or trans character" and "Fighting the Nazis" in your game is considered extremely politically charged for many people. Whatever the reason for these missteps, I'm pretty confident that the company as a whole isn't being deliberately hateful. At the very worst the people running their social media accounts are knowingly jumping on controversial and important issues to generate publicity for their product- and while that is really shitty of them- it hardly reflects on the people actually working on the upcoming game.
Cyberpunk is base on trans ideology My apologizes if I worded it wrong, I'm not that good at expressing my thoughts through words
Uhm, I have never heard of this until now. Got any sources?
Could you elaborate on this? I have never heard of this before
Yeah, that is literally not true at all. There may some overlapping ideas between trans ideals and some elements of cyberpunk media on occasion, but it is predominantly going to be circumstantial in those cases.
Cyberpunk has always been about exploring the idea of going beyond limits of the human body, dichotomy of mind and body, personnal identity, denouncing traditionnal social hierarchies. So I can see how it appeals to a lot of trans people and lgbts in general.
I'm not the best person to explain this, but unlike most people who would yell and tell you to "Google it" I'll try my best to explain and remember what somebody told me But the ideal of putting robots inside of you, while still keeping your humanity Also the ideal of translation it in self is pretty cyberpunk as well Take hormone therapy to change your biochemisty and inturn your body A bit oversimple, but like I said, I can't remember what was all the reasons exactly I will try to find the Twitter thread, again my apologizes
But how will I get outraged about S-jews then?
I will probably get shit for this but: Jesus fucking christ, the entire world has become one massive snowflake. I miss the old times when telling someone "I will fuck ur mom you fag" didn't land you on front page of news. Also if you don't support companies practices and say you wont be buying their game: Good for you I guess, nobody cares. And if you try to guilt-trip someone who plays companies (that you hate) game - you can piss off #ktnxbye (I hope I don't land on news page because this hashtag is used by someone who's super sensitive).
He's just plain insufferable.
the only reason it landed on a news page is because an alt right activist took forum posts and tweets and made it a misleading news story when it wasn't news worthy. I can assure you most people who told the gog twitter that they didn't like the tweet will still buy the game.
This is the third time, by this point I'm pretty sure they are doing this on purpose. People have been saying this is common in Slav humor, make fun of someone or something then apologize and claim your sorry before doing it again. It's pretty good trolling.
I'd say it's more of a coincidence than it being based on Trans ideology. Cyberpunk was starting to become a thing in the 60/70s, when Technology was starting to get more advanced. A lot of questions involving the future of Humanity and Technology, how far would Technology go, will humans incorporate it into themselves, became the basis for cyberpunk. Least for my understanding.
Yes, trans ideals relate well to elements of cyberpunk, but the transcommunity neither inspired them nor was a primary driver of the genre. Cyberpunk has just provided an outlet for the community.
