• Sony censorship policy making Japanese devs censor themselves even in Japan

And another one. https://gematsu.com/2018/11/neko-para-vol-1-for-ps4-removes-setting-increases-steam
That one on some level actually makes sense because its incredibly difficult to get spiritual shit passed through in China, there's an almost outright ban on outside spiritualism altogether.
Fair point, but it's also removed from the Japanese version and any future title CAN'T have it.
Yeah that's the weird part, I dunno why they removed in the Japanese Version unless they're just throwing up their hands and instead focusing on singular versions across the board.
Another one. https://imgur.com/a/RyUXwUO Linked cause NSFW. I'm probably just gonna keep posting this shit until I either get banned, thread gets closed or Sony says something. I want people to actually know this shit before buying so I'ma do my best to help you lot out.
Seeing all the games that get censored in order to fit in Chinese market standards I don't think it's got much to do with american imperialism and a lot more to do with just companies being shits.
If it was just for Chinese versions, sure. But this has been affecting the American and Japanese releases. Even ones exclusive to Japan.
Some companies don't care and will censor the game for everyone rather than try to do region-based stuff.
Sure, but this is SONY. Ya know, one of the biggest Gaming related companies in the world? They never pulled this shit before, and had games on the console before like the ones they are now censoring.

Yeah, it was rather surprising to see that the top 3 downloaded Vita games from PSN this September were all Neptunia Re;Birth games.
They are more than welcome to seek refuge in Steam
The last few weeks over half of the top selling games in the recommendation list on the store main page (which it should be noted excludes owned titles) have been sexual in nature. And even when owned games are still included I always see at least a couple in the top selling lists. To me it's awesome because to hell with sexual censorship, I love seeing people just openly embracing sexuality in games.
And another one. Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Scarlet Censored By Sony On PS4, No Chang..
Update. Supposedly there has been a patch on the Switch that censored the image, I am not too sure tho. If you haven't updated it, then keep that in mind.
I can honestly say these "trash anime games" are waaay better then things like the last of us in pure gameplay
For those saying why games like RDR/GTA and the like don't fall under this. You really expect Sony to tell high profile 3rd party devs what to do when they're basically the reason why their system sells in the first place? It's a massive double standard, but Sony telling VN devs to censor their games is going to cause less controversial headlines and negative PR than Sony telling R* or CDPR to. They seem to be targeting games where sex and sexuality are the main themes and focus. GTA and RDR have nudity sure, and there's even an outright sex scene you can walk into in GTA V if I remember correctly, but sex and sexuality are not the main focus and themes of the games. I'm not defending Sony's decision here (I'd rather censorship be as minimal as possible in all of media), just trying to explain their logic. It's a warped and stupid logic, but it's their logic nonetheless.
I forgot I even made that post, 23 days ago, lol.
everything that spills out of your mouth is either terrible, misinformed, or prejudiced
They shouldn't be censored but I'll be honest I have a very hard time understanding why people consume video game porn over other kinds of porn. It's just work.
I have legit been combing through the internet slowly searching out porn games just to find actually good ones. And they have to be good at both the porn side and the game side. Which means I have a folder filled with awful rpgmaker porn games, many I think are from the same damn studio or person or whatever. Like. It hasn't been entire fruitless. I've found some that have good porn, and some that are good games. But I can't say I've really found any that are that good at both. Like there was some still in development metroidvania game I found that had actually decent gameplay, all the characters were voice acted, it was actually kinda funny and had something resembling a story. But the porn side wasn't so good, just really small sprite defeat animations and like a still image for each enemy type. A friend and I have talked a fair bit about this and the issue is that most porn games tend to focus to much on just the porn side and getting the porn is the failure state. So when you've finally blown your load, you're often stuck with either really difficult games, or otherwise really boring and simple games with a "I lose. Show me the rape sequence." button. They have decent porn and awful gameplay. On occasion you get the opposite, mediocre porn but good gameplay. So it's just an all around incomplete experience. I have played a shitload of porn games the last six months or so. Not even getting off to them, just in this weird analytical mode. Like documenting the glitches and bugs and mechanical issues in a primarily text based game just trying to show you pictures of tits is a weird thing. But like with some of them, there is genuine effort and it's like, I'm actually impressed at their overall ability and I'd be interested in seeing them get a proper place in the industry as a full developer.
Maybe you need to make one informed post Just one.
No law expert myself, but couldn't game makers sue for this?
The general consensus is currently "if it's not the government doing it, censorship isn't bad!" People tend to rethink this stance once things they like start being censored, though.
I'm sure if you ever shared your findings, a lot of people would appreciate it. For a friend of course.
Basic game design implies you should reward winning, not losing. Never understood why those games did "game over porn" rather than "beat a hard challenge then beat your beat" porn. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DTmKuQQXkAIdBYG.jpg
I have found a few reasons for the reliance, especially in RPGMaker porn games, of game overs providing the sexual content. One being that it is easy to lose. You just stand there and let the enemy win, then you get the porn. But this actually isn't often true. I've regularly found games where there isn't a way to surrender or take no action, and they don't have any actions that won't be causing damage to the enemy. So instead you just end up winning while putting in minimum effort. It also sorta defeats the purpose of using a game anyway for it. I have however run in to some games that have other ways, like one where if you searched you could find an accessory that turns you in to a glass cannon so losing is easier. Another reason I've run in to is that it's rape, and therefore they don't want to be seen as promoting rape by having it been the reward for winning. They're fine featuring rape, but it's the fact that the player could commit rape themselves that is the problem. (I've actually run in to a few games recently that, if you win a fight, you can actually chat with the enemy and even ask if they want to fuck, or you can just rape them if you want.) The last one is that they actually want to discourage losing, and the idea is that the threat of rape is meant to be a deterrent to poor performance. Yeah. Porn games are weird, most are frankly not so well designed, and many of them heavily feature rape.
The real rub pun intended that it's rarely ever seamless nor organic nor intuitive, and games where this could or would be the natural progression always pussy out. GoT and ME are perfect examples, with a nod towards Skyrim as well though Skyrim was the usual snickery books and some interestingly placed mammoth tusks and bee's wax and getting help in one quest from a "lady with talents". The time when a publisher and dev commit towards not only having sex but including it as actual progression material with options and preferences that presented with common sense and a straight face is still a very very long way off.
Make a thread for this yo. Fun porn games are my guilty pleasure. A lot of the good ones I've played we're usually in development and incomplete like nightmare sphere.
Having anything presentable is a ways off. I have some ideas on how to do this actually, but I'd say you'd be lucky to see it at the start of the year even if I were to make a concentrated effort. The issue comes down to needing to go through old files, reexamine old games that have had content updates, decide whether or not the deluge of identical "Oneoneone" rpgmaker games should even be included (seriously, they're almost all the same, use generic rpgmaker assets for a lot of everything, and aren't that good largely), and a whole lot more. On top of that my actual day job is getting busy with work related stuff until at least the new year so that also complicates things. I'm not gonna be playing porn games at work, just saying.
