The absolute state of twitter
To be honest, removing the like function in most social media platforms is only a slight direction in the positive as it removes the addicting feedback loop many people use to try and gauge how well taken their opinions are.
Its similar to here where we're supposed to not give a shit about ratings but I've seen several arguments cropping up over the fucking dumb rating, people give a shit about how their opinions are taken and ratings make it very easy to quantify at a glance whether something is popular but in reality doesn't really show anything.
Bots, drive-by likers, people looking to bookmark and don't know the function exists, people who agree in the language but not the point because it goes over their head? Those numbers mean jackshit because they don't represent engagement, they represent consuming. Consuming doesn't add anything.
If only there were some way to represent this comment that didn't require the effort to actually post.
Twitter should think about killing Twitter. Social media is full of clickbait, convenient half-thruths, propaganda and is basically everything wrong with society today. The only merit to Twitter is following artists, t b q h.
