Pretty sure everything will just go over a VPN from Tesla's server and require the key fob / owners phone to be in range.

Literally creating a world of hackable road-missiles for epic marketing points and memeing. I wonder how much thought Musk has put into the ramifications of this feature going mainstream.
Pretty sure that's just regular summon.
Very good news, I'll attach my dildo to my tesla and have remote control dildo, very excited for this update
A lot. Tesla's being able to drive themselves has been the point since years ago. It's not about memes or any other immature thing.. It's a thought out incremental step to allowing your car to act as a ride-share on your behalf. It's to allow future drivers to get out at the front door of the destination and walk away, and the car knows to go and park or pick up riders for profit. This video was released a long time ago and it's what they want you to someday be able to do with your Tesla: https://youtu.be/C3DbrYx-SN4?t=147 Car's won't need drivers in 5 years. It's time to accept that reality.
I think setting destinations and letting the car safely navigate itself is fine, I just really dislike the idea of remote controlling a vehicle over the internet. It just screams "bad idea" when it's inevitably exploited. Hopefully they impose a very harsh speed limit on the feature.
Elon has a way of dramatizing things. It's LOS so it'll probably just be the new summon where it will carefully navigate obstacles instead of just going forward and back. and the "remote control" part will just be you being able to tell it to creep left or right. It's prooobably not gonna override it's own safety sensors.
