This is the most 2018 headline I've seen so far.
And even then, this game has absolutely none of the elements people like in Bethesda games besides "big world you can walk around"
Adding onto the discussion of PvP, I can see it being greatly abused. Like, horribly, horribly abused, and I can see exactly how because another game had almost exactly the same system for PvP.
So if nobody here has played The Division, it has an area called the Dark Zone. Not nearly as edgy as it sounds, just an area where the plague is so intense that they had to just permanently cordon off a section of the city. PvP is enabled here, and you can kill freely. Kill a player who hasn't shot at you, and you enter a "rogue" state where your location is visible for all, and there's a price on your head. Pretty much exactly like how Fallout 76's system sounds to work, just without the aggressor letting you "warm up", because they'll do full damage on the first shot and just melt you while you're unaware.
Thing is, one thing people would do to grief is just... Huddle up. Get one guy to go rogue, get the other three to leave the group, and just shield the fucker. You throw a frag or anything, and you go rogue for injuring three completely innocent people who just happen to be near the guy, and then they just fucking slaughter you. You can't even shoot because there's three people orbiting him like electrons who will be sure to eat up the brunt of your shots. It sounds to me like the exact thing will end up happening in '76. Just huddle up to some high level baddie, wait for someone to accidentally tag you, and then literally nuke him. Just launch a fuckin' tactical warhead at his head because he made the mistake of trying to do some good in this irradiated hellhole.
Making a build oriented pvp game can definitely be in danger of being the most rage inducing fucking thing out there unless it is managed very carefully. No one wants to lose a base that they spent 4 fucking hours building to a random mob of jackasses who decided to masturbate to someone's misery.
If Bethesda wanted to make it a truly great mp experience, they'd allow dedicated servers and have serverwide mods. That would be tits.
And also make the game run on an actually good engine.
i bet you can literally edit an .ini to get more money
Never thought we'd reach these levels of corniness.
