Replace "kids" with "asians," and you have the actual motive. If this shit was actually being target at the US, Europe, or anywhere other than Asia, it would have a dedicated Blizzard development team - much how Elder Scrolls Blades is 100 percent an in-house Bethesda product aimed at people here who love Skyrim and want it on the go. But no, they've outsourced it to a Chinese developer already making bank in the region, because they want some of that money too. This is as shameless a cash grab as the last two Transformers films partnering with a Chinese film studio and stuffing themselves with Chinese product placement.

Surprisingly quite a few sites seem to be just calling it a mediocre game. Meanwhile mashable is having an absolute fit and posted two articles like this today https://mashable.com/article/diablo-immortal-blowback-entitled-gamers/ UPDATED Nov. 3, 2018, 3:44 p.m. ET An earlier version of this story inaccurately characterized the people attacking Blizzard as "fans." In truth, they're trolls. It's fine and even normal to feel disappointment that Diablo 4 wasn't announced. It's not fine to turn that disappointment into fuel for attacking Diablo's creators.  The Blizzard fan community is generally a wonderful and welcoming space, but the unfortunate reality of life on the internet in 2018 is anonymous trolls are always going to capitalize on people's disappointment. I regret that my words could have been read as an attack on all Blizzard fans — they absolutely weren't — and have amended the post to better reflect my points. Both seem completely unable to grasp the fact that a fan can have critical thoughts of the direction of the thing they enjoy and still be a fan. Also from it:  That "April Fool's joke" guy was an asshole for asking that question. And if you're holding that guy up as some kind of a hero, or even just attacking Blizzard for making something you're not into, you're an asshole too.
I tried looking it up because I didn't think someone could be this stupid and his tweets are protected lol.
It's been years since gamergate, can maybe somebody "notice" how shitty gaming journalism is again? Someone better than 4chan this time?
Or people have just grown tired of their shit over the years and how they seem to have no shame.
It won't work again. The Trump card (heh) and invoking the spectre of Gamergate itself lets them weasel out of any serious discourse or debate about both the incestuous relation between game journos and the game industry and the overly political slant of everyone involved.
Actually pretty interested in this. Just hope it's not full of MTX fuckery like every other game on the play store
This is like the middle stages of corporatate co-opting of politics and social justice for marketing and defense of bad practices purposes. There must be like a manual for how to do this shit in big marketing firms by now, judging by how many people seem to be eager to go along with it just to try to look "good" and get those sweet virtue points.
Its a chinese mobile game, published by Activision Blizzard, it won't be a game with microtransactions, it'll be microtransactions with a game.
Not just -a- chinese mobile game, a mobile game made by one of the worst mobile game companies in the world.
“The world is evolving both geographically and demographically,” You mean it became easier to whore out your games. https://i.imgur.com/07y2MLK.jpg
The thing is that nobody actually cares what game journalists have to say anymore other than other game journalists. It's become a joke profession, thanks to themselves.
It has the same exact layout for buttons as all of those knockoff mobile games do, Darkness Rises being the most recent one I've tried. I can understand why they aim for mobile, it's getting huge among young people and it's very easy to gurgle cash from it (Supercell is still number one moneymaker in Finland by a large margin, leaving even big banks faaaar behind). But I imagine most of Diablos fanbase fucking hates gameing on phones, myself included. Is it really worth it to disappoint and probably lose a large margin of your fanbase so you can get younger mobile gamers on board? Is it a price worth paying?
Players: "You're game is kinda disappointing" Blizzard Employee: "Fuck off Trump supporters." Players: "What does this have to do wit-" Blizzard Employee: "You're all a bunch of right-wing racists." Players: "What the fuck?"
The most hilarious argument in this debate in Blizzards defense is the "make fun of their work" argument. How it is "disrespectful about the work put into it". Are they really that oblivious to the fact that this is 95% just a reskin of a "game" made for the sole purpose of sucking out money? The "hard work" is a chinese clone, made by underpaid and probably exploited coders/artists, made from the ground up to exploit pay2win where ever it can. Who even knows how much of the actual Diablo skin is made by Blizzard, they probably just delivered writing and story, rest was still made by those chinese devs. Although I'm not surprised to see those "news" calling critical people all kinds of things, thats been a growing trend. They must get paid really well.
Doesn't look very interesting, won't be playing it. I just wish people would just shut the fuck up about it already. Trade chat in WoW yesterday was just filled with people acting like Blizzard raped their mother on stage with how angry they were. Both sides are being some colossal babies about this.
Fuck you, that guy was a hero http://u.cubeupload.com/callumshell1/1541264408080.jpg leave Blizzard to me

I think it's safe to say Twitter, gaming journalism and the internet as a whole would improve tremendously if blue check marks were forever banned from the internet.
honestly more than the april fools question I would have rather someone asked, "What makes you think this was the place to announce this?" or something along the lines of "if you were going to do a mobile game cash grab, why did you hype up your core base?"

Amazing. We've reach the point now where, in some people's eyes, you have to be blindly loyal in order to be a true fan. No disappointment or criticism allowed* *Unless of course, your favorite product does anything that might be construed as sexist, racist, homophobic, etc, by so much as a single person. Then its your obligation to demand the heads of whoever greenlit the decision, and if you don't, you're probably racists, sexist, homophobic, etc. as well.
It always pisses me off when people pull that shit. I've played every Diablo game to death over and over again, i played the original as a kid on PS1, spend pretty much the rest of my childhood and all of my teen years on D2, and even really enjoyed 3 on launch. I've played even games just related to Diablo like HotS and have gone out of my way to read the books and such. Basically, i'd argue that i'm more of a "true fan" because i CAN criticize and be disappointed by one of my most beloved franchises. People wanted a real, true, proper addition to the franchise and we were all but told to go fuck ourselves, i'm a disappointed fan because Blizzard can do and has done better than this.
I mean I'm pretty sure almost all AAA companies including ActiBlizz dont see their customers are literal human beings anymore so

There is no again. GJP has 200 members, only 10 permanently lost jobs when Gawker folded. GJP is still doing exactly what it did day in, day out.
