How easy would it be to just port over the 76 map into Fallout 4? How hard can it be?
Another waste of time Bethesda game for modders have to salvage
I'm personally waiting for the ultimate crossover that is Fallout 4: New Vegas being finished, and then some mad lads porting that over into Fallout 76 once modded private servers become a thing.
Co-op Fallout New Vegas.
i think there are already multiplayer new vegas projects out there
There is technically a story, but it's basically following the unseen overseer of your Vault as she leaves behind holotapes because you're always just behind her while she investigates the Scorched Ghouls or whatever that have a hive mind intelligence. It's probably the only real thing besides loot and kill quests from the robots that tries to give the game a sense of progression, but it smells a lot like a theme park MMO style "please follow our breadcrumb trail to lead you through the game world in a specific way so that you see what we want you to see when we want you to, though we don't really have a way to stop you from ignoring it." Retconning the Brotherhood of Steel into existing only 27 years after the bombs fell and implausibly visiting West Virginia just to point Ghoulified individuals towards the Capital Wasteland for yet another obligatory FO3 reference, and get the excuse to have their signature gear lying around, is the cherry on top as a completely unnecessary thing thrown into an already problematic mix.
Yeah, except the killing isn't fun and the loot is shit. Even Destiny and its sequel, for all of their many faults, at least have some of the best feeling guns and gunplay in all of gaming. That's the only reason people have been willing to tolerate their overall mediocrity. Fallout 76, on the other hand, has literally nothing going for it, other than the fact that its tied to the Fallout IP.
Yes, but not any with the potential "best of both worlds" approach that I envision F4NV to have if it's ever finished.
There are some mechanics from Fallout 4 that I really liked. The gunplay is a fuckton better, the power armor system feels like a more modern take on the concept of power armor from FO1 and FO2. Stuff like that. It's just a shame it's married to a game that basically strips away what makes Fallout "Fallout" to me in all the areas that I feel it matters. F4NV is pretty much shaping up to be what I wanted the advancement of modern Fallout to be.
Now take that, and make it multiplayer without watering down the game at all. Heck, make the faction system play into it (give incentive to engage in conflicts with the NCR if you're part of the Legion etc etc). True it'll be a completely different beast of a game, but I still feel it would be a good bit more fun than the shell of a game that 76 appears to be so far.
Holy shit you are completely right.
The fucking core philosophy of fallout 76 matches the orders found on dead super mutants in fallout 4.
Can we verify whether or not Todd Howard been exposed to any FEV recently?
The 'point' of the beta is to incentivize pre-orders. Bethesda is a big enough company to have their own QA team. But this way they get people to actually pay THEM to test their game.
So more of Fallout 4, got it.
Oh I'm definitely not disillusion and I'm not gonna pretend I have any clue on how running servers for a video game works, but I have really never had an issue with the game yet. Honestly it works just fine minus a few missing features such as FOV or ultra-widescreen support but these are all things that can be patched in with an update. As far as too much being relied on the client, the only instance this seems to be an issue so far (from my experience) is game speed being based off a players FPS. I would imagine while this would be hard to fix on a large scale without flaw, it isn't a bug that will need a total rewrite of the server code. I have played for about six hours a few days ago and while I did crash when creating my first character, it played just fine for the next 5 hours and 45 minutes. I am all on the Bethesda makes buggy games bandwagon but from what I've played so far it really is the same as fallout with multiplayer. If fallout 4 was too buggy for you then yes, skip this game. But as far as this game being terrible or unplayable, I sure had fun the other day and there was interesting story points in the missions. It was fun running on another player who was doing the same mission or at a similar part of the game. I for one am impressed with how well they managed to make this game run seeing as it is their first multiplayer game in this engine from what I recall. While the beta should have been released far in advance to the actual game, everything ran fairly smoothly all things considered. When I see everyone complain about the bugs, I think back to when I had early access to Battlefield 3 and how it was insanely buggy. The game ended up turning out just fine after the first few updates.
I honestly thought this was just Fallout: ESO edition.
Honestly, I don't think I'll pick this one up.
I know that it'll get boring incredibly fast kind of like ESO gets boring after a while.
It's kind of hard to say, TBH. It's not an RPG in the sense FO4 is an RPG. However; if you enjoyed Fallout 4's gunplay, its salvage/crafting/survival mechanics, its power armor gameplay and weapon customization, and you like the idea of running around a wasteland with friends and doing all of the above, in an environment where PVP is possible but *highly* disincentivized if not fully consensual, then you'll probably love it.
If I want good writing, meaningful choices and difficult decisions, I play Fallout: New Vegas. If I want solid action gameplay with survival/crafting/building elements, then I'd go for FO4 or FO76.
With this new game, bethesda went from a respectable studio, to unethically/morally corrupt, putting money first before it's community/players/customers, if it keeps down this path it will match EA.
Optimistic there, they're gonna just pull a PUBG, private servers are created ingame and use ~the cloud~, only mods allowed are from the atom store.
Watch it happen.
Nah, they're still making single player games. This is more of an 'experiment'/side-project for them.
Because Bethesda's post-Morrowind single player games have been so brilliant
