I cannot tell if you're legitimately confused by the term or if you're being pedantic to downplay its inherent racism. White nationalists are so-called because they believe in a nation that primarily (if not exclusively) caters to the racially white demographic. Not because they're nationalistic and happen to be white. If you are someone or are among people that proudly consider themselves 'white nationalists,' you may want to reflect on a few things, because it doesn't mean what you think it means.
You are confusing something here. When people say nationalism they usually mean ethnic nationalism. Which is inherently segregational and xenophobic. What you are talking about is referred to as civic nationalism, which is less common. When people say white nationalism for example, it undoubtedly means ethnic nationalism. Not "someone who is a patriot and also happens to be white". "Supporting your country is the right thing to do, if you don't like/support your country, either change it or leave." Lol, dude. That blind chauvinism more often than not just kills productive debates, that are all about criticizing and improving a country. And your country most likely isn't perfect. E.g. "YOU ARE KNEELING DURING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM??", "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T SUPPORT OUR TROOPS PROTECTING US OVERSEAS??".
White people are not a single nation, being white nationalist means you are proud of like a white enthonstate and are implying that europeans all share the same culture basically and it needs to be defended from the "Other people"
militant nationalism has never lead to anything good in human history. Even our flag hugging of the cold war lead mankind to the precipice of total destruction thanks to the massive nuclear arms buildup
Muffin. White nationalist, universally means a white person who believes in having a white nation. It doesn't mean you're a nationalist who is also white. When you see popular YouTube comments such as "America was built by whites and destroyed by blacks," that's what white nationalist sentiment is. Notions of nationalist romanticism that serve to paint other races or ethnic group as non-citizens or undesirables.
