But it sure has lower gun crime than alot of places
Just imagine if we had a massive flashing sign in both houses of congress that showed the days since the last mass shooting.
There's been almost one for every day this year. (Not one every day, just the amount)
apparently one of the shooting survivors also survived the vegas shooting last year as well
Thousand Oaks shooting survivor also survived Las Vegas shooting..
We'd probably have registries, waiting periods, assault weapons bans, magazine bans, stock bans, and all other manner of ineffective bills; while a democrat stands in Congress saying "all this gun control doesn't work, that is why we need to ban guns".
"greatest country on earth!"
I'd have to leave America if I ended up surviving not one but TWO shootings, I'd not want to see if a third landed in my lap.
jesus, play the lotto please. This person deserves some good luck for once.
Would help if news outlets didn't show things like "score charts" as to who killed the most people.
and higher knife crime than alot of places, they use whatever tools they can get ahold of.
I do tho
This sucks, why do you fuckers insist on going "I TOLD YOU SO?" and having your debates on every thread, show some respect Jesus Christ
Pee your pants
Because you are thinking irrationally, maybe the vacation would clear up your mind a bit.
I say this because clearly your image is based solely on the negative news that is spread - after all, why would a story about acts of kindness and prosperity ever be important enough to reach Denmark?
But to give some perspective, in the US, supplied with the most generous definition of mass shooting there is, you have a 0.00000143% of dying in a mass shooting ever. And that definition is purposely broad to inflate the figures, because that definition includes the large amounts of concentrated gang violence in criminal hotspots.
Do you plan on visiting Detroit or Skidrow? No? Then you'll be fine.
Students in the US can't ever get a fucking break
And you wonder why they are stressed the fuck out: bleak future, huge debt and risk of getting shot
What the fuck are you talking about?
damn dude you must be pretty high
Bro we talking about guns here
What part is confusing?
It reads as incoherent rambling.
It seems pretty straightforward to me: America is not only up it's ass ridiculously about how great it thinks it is, but is in the shitty state it is PARTLY BECAUSE OF how it constantly lies to itself and others about how great it is
Welcome to the power of right wing propaganda. It has proven effective here and it will eventually show up at your doorstep.
Humanity took a minute to figure out how to use the internet to control the population. I mean how could you expect to control people who could verify you are an idiot within 15 seconds? The internet offers that sort of power.
Turns out people don't verify shit. You just have to keep repeating the same bullshit over and over and eventually people buy it. This is essentially the root of all problems in the US and, ultimately, much of the world. Propaganda is a powerful tool and humans are extremely vulnerable to it. The US had enough money floating about its economy to justify actually dumping the research and funding into effective delivery mechanisms. It will filter out.
So yeah, the US is absolutely bullshit. We were never the greatest anything on earth, though I'll grant we did suck less at certain points in our history. We are either going to be destroyed by this fucking right wing fuckery, or we are going to figure out how to counter this tactic and give the rest of the world a way to fight it in the process. Humans are stupid, the world is weird, and facebook is cancer. Yay 2018.
A rant about how America purports itself to be great in a thread about a shooting is more of a self-serving soapbox rather than an insightful contribution, especially with the way he worded it. "I would never visit America as a tourist" and "I've been saying this before Trump and getting banned for it, but I was right all along!". There's plenty of places here that would suit everyone, and anyone thinking it's dangerous is just as much of a lunatic as those who won't visit Europe because of Islamic terror attacks. Both incredibly low chances of happening, and both should not be a reason to forgo a visit.
Not really surprised here. For a soldier it must be hell going into a war zone and actively killing other human beings, finally being home in your country that is supposed to be "safe" and then realising the same shit that was going on in war zones is happening in your own country with people being shot and killed every day in random places unexpectedly.
Doesn't justify his actions, but the US should probably try find a solution to this. Not sure if you guys offer free therapy to soldiers but if you don't that's probably a good first step. Also not sure if you guys do psych evals on soldiers who come back from war but that's probably also another solution to determine whether someone NEEDS to help rather than just asking them, because I'm willing to be 90% of the soldiers that come back from war have issues but would rather just block them out than admit they have them.
USA is still #1 in scientific research output, but we'll see how long that lasts, at this rate.
you are an incredibly narcissistic individual.
your first post in this thread was demonstrating that when reading the news of 11 people being shot dead, your first track runs to "i better go see what those assholes i dont like are saying about THIS!". And now we have this gem.
How can people pretend to care enough to say "LETS NOT ARGUE PEOPLE DIED" "STOP POLITICIZING TRAGEDY". It's absolutely pretending to care, because I've seen these things in the news so much I've just grown numb to it. If you haven't, well, I can't imagine how. Why should people not discuss the wider implications of how this came to be and what can be done to prevent it?
That would be more true if this was a one time occurrence. But this is a fucking series. Talking about what causes this shit is important
How the fuck is self-serving pablum about how he saw it all coming and he was always right and a bizarre "i better go see what those fuckers are spinning about this!!" nerd spat talking about what causes this?
this is theatre; performance.
The part where he mentions America's rhetoric as being something that causes it maybe?
