Teen with Cerebral Palsy Tormented, Used as Human Bridge by Schoolmate

Chances are they're probably abused at home, which is largely the reason a lot of kids act like such shitheads
I like to call this "Not My Kid" Syndrome. People can' comprehend that their children can be absolute cunts.
Egos bloated by parents and third parties block the ability for teens to grow empathy for others. It's not at how late, its at how soon.
Small Update: Video of teens walking on student with cerebral palsy draws stro..
Corbett's mother, Terri McEachern, said she was informed about the incident by a school official on Wednesday.
"It was said to me by the school, he took a dare," she said.
But then McEachern saw the video and that told a different story.
"It wasn't a dare. He was told if he didn't get in, he would be thrown in, pushed in, and there was a lot of mocking and comments were made, so he felt he had no choice."
She said it was shameful.
"That kids could just stand there and video and not want to help. There is no compassion in that."
Some good news, glad to see some of the other students stand up for him.
Other people have come forward to show Corbett and his family support.
McEachern says some students came by their house on Thursday and several young people were with Corbett's family as they talked to the media on Friday.
Brianna McDonald, who said she is new to the school, called the incident "very upsetting."
The Grade 12 student said if she had been there at the time, she would not have stood by and watched.
"We just want Brett to know that he is not alone and he has a whole army of people behind him."
Another Grade 12 student, Julia White, said she found out about what happened to Corbett the next day and called it disrespectful.
"It was kind of hard to believe that something like that would happen," she said.
White said she and others in her graduating class got together to raise some money to buy Corbett a present to show they care.
"We heard he was saving up for a game, so we are going to surprise him with the game and hopefully let him know that we are here for him and he's not alone."

I hear you on them sucking up to save face, but I think the kids in the video were around the same age as Brett (14) and these kids in the photo above are 2 years his senior.
I could be wrong though, it's just what I hope.
An increasingly-selfish society and sociopathic superiors who enjoy suffering. Despair creates hatred and it seems to accumulate in schools for some odd reason. It's always creeped me out how many
people who love to hurt minors end up working in schools.
Took a moment to write a very angry letter and I advise everyone else to do the same (but maybe not with as many cuss words, in my defence I am outraged by this).
If i was this kids parents and saw he got suspended, then saw this I would personally fucking beat those kids and piss on them. Lock me up, I don't give a shit.
I'm a parent myself and god help the bastards who try to bully my boy. I'm putting him in fighting classes and he's a powerhouse at only 3 years old.
Update: Bullying incident at Glace Bay High School under police investig..
“The school likes to sweep everything under the rug and pretend that it didn’t happen,” said Kenna MacKinnon, 18, a Grade 12 student who helped organize the protest. “So, we’re just here to stand up for what’s right and be the voice for all the kids that don’t have one.”
“I feel that the school should be doing way more than they’re doing,” she said. “They suspended them for only one day. What does that do? They get to not go to school for one day and not do work. They get to sleep in. And then that boy has to deal with that for the rest of his life. He’s the one who got walked on, laughed at and videotaped. And everyone thinks it’s funny. And nobody wants to do anything about it — they think it’s stupid that we walked out of the school for him and nobody else did it but the people who actually care. It’s a sin.”
The Cape Breton Post could not get confirmation that the students had actually been suspended. Administration at Glace Bay High School was contacted for a response to the issue. A return email said to forward all questions to the school board’s communications officer Michelle MacLeod.
“We wouldn’t be able to speak on suspensions, but to reveal if they are denied or confirmed, because of privacy issues,” said MacLeod.
“As part of our continued efforts to educate students we will be working with school administration to facilitate ongoing education regarding the importance of respectful and responsible relationships and behaviour and the possible school and legal consequences of unacceptable behaviour.”
Some of the students involved in the protest, like Grade 12 student Chloe McNeil, 17, said they were concerned about how the matter was being handled.
“The way the school is handling this is absolutely ridiculous — I was just told in class that I’m not allowed to talk about the situation,” she said. “I don’t think that’s right either. People should know what happened — they should know that the school does take part in this and they’re not handling it the way it should be handled.”
“Honestly, it’s sickening,” said Grade 11 student Ethan Fletcher, 17, who agreed with the other students that bullying is a major problem at the school. “They got upset at us for walking out. They did not agree with it. They said normal classes were still taking place and we should join them. It’s a little upsetting to see nothing being done about it.”
One student who didn’t wish to be identified said something needs to be done so students like Corbett aren’t further victimized.
“I feel bad for him,” said the female student about the bullied student. “Things get swept under the rug at this school. The administration doesn’t do enough.”
One day suspension....on a Friday. They effectively awarded them with a long weekend. I know I'm quoting alot sorry if it's hard to read.
The bullies getting a day off on Friday remind me of someone's school that put a bunch of bullies on a field trip to a bulling alley on the day an inspector was supposed to come by and check if there was any bullying going on.
These little shits are assholes and deserve to get a good kicking for that, kods or no kids, same goes for anyone in the school complicit in enabling this to happen. Fuck the lot of them.
So uh @SIRIUS , about the principal's email:
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/146362/97e6f2ee-e600-4c67-b926-ef23c25635a9/quickgooglesearch.PNG
Not sure if we got the wrong email address, or if this is just outdated info/ a principal from a different but similarly named school.
The email I got was on the website so idk
Huh, that's weird.
The email did show up on the official school website when I googled it earlier, but now the url leads to a 404 page for some reason.
I think it was this url:
http://www.cbv.ns.ca/mchs/mchs_xoops/modules/mastop_publish/?tac=Staff_email
Well, just in case it might be good to re send the emails to the address on this page: http://www.cbv.ns.ca/home/?q=content/glace-bay-high
Participating equals conspiracy in the eyes of most schools, even if your participation is getting your shit beaten. This is why, when I was at school, we were encouraged by our parents and the other kids to just clobber the shit out of bullies instead of taking it and reporting it.
You're going to take beef from the teachers no matter what, so why not take the fucker down with you?
GEEEEETTT FUCKED you incompetent shitlords.
While I can see the positive side to this and that these kids have good intentions and it's great they are standing up for him, can I just say this in itself is pretty bullshit.
These kids are more than happy to stand up for him AFTER its happened, but not BEFORE? (I understand the kids mentioned weren't present during the incident).
Perhaps I'm a little biased but this exact same thing happened to both myself as well as others I used to know at my school when I was younger.
No one listens when you speak out, and you often hear kids say and do horrible things to you or your friends in private, yet as soon as something becomes remotely public/known, those same kids will look you in the eye and tell you they understand what you are going through and only want to help.
Again, not shitting on these kids for what they are doing, it's great, but I'm willing to bet if any of them were present in that video, not a single one of them would have stood up for him...
The fact no one did anything before it blew up just goes to show they're just doing it for either attention or to feel like they're actually the good guys and not like those terrible bullies. Once it's all passed they probably won't stick around.
Judging by the incompetence of the school they may have not updated anything if they changed principals...
Oh wow they actually didn't update it. Article below confirms it.
Update: Boy to apologize for bullying Glace Bay teen |
Jim Ellsworth cried watching the viral video of his son tormenting a 14-year-old Glace Bay boy with cerebral palsy and he says he’s still sickened by what he witnessed.
“Absolutely devastated,” said Ellsworth. “I’m not defending the actions of my son in any way shape or form. He made a huge mistake and he’s going to wear it and suffer the consequences.”
the teenager is going to write an apology letter to the boy and hand deliver it to the family.
Corbett says he would gladly welcome it. He says he’s been bombarded by support from students at the school and wider community.
“Yes, I would really like to see him and get that letter,” said Corbett. “Life is too short to hold grudges. I don’t think he’s a bad person. Everyone was taking part so he decided to join in.
“But I’m kind of glad I got threatened because maybe there will be a bit of a change. I don’t want people to be bullied.”
The Chronicle Herald spoke to Corbett while Glace Bay High School principal Donnie Holland and vice-principal Tanya Jamieson were visiting his home. Corbett said they had arrived to offer support but accused him lying about the school’s refusal to help him.
The Herald published a story Thursday on the bullying incident in which he said he complained to school staff twice about being bullied but was ignored.
The Herald asked to speak to Holland and Jamieson while they were at Corbett’s home but both declined.
it just gets worse and worse
The person I sent the email to replied and said that she's been retired from school for 3 years. Whoops.
I went ahead and gave her a quick apology email.
resent my email to the both of them, with a small bit about having accused Brett of lying. Haven't heard anything back from the first woman however, who knows if she'll ever respond to me.
That really sucks but it just goes to show how incompetent the people are who run the school that they can't even update their contact information properly over the course of 3 years.
This one says principal's email
I don't know how I missed that, Thanks SIRIUS!
Nova Scotia's education system is such a fucking joke. Especially in rural areas.
delet this
I think if you want to get the attention of someone via email, you can't just send an email and be done with it, you setup a fucking bot to send 100 emails from disposable emails and then maybe you'll have their attention.
Yeah, that's a great way to get a restraining order.
How would that even work if you're not from the same country to begin with?
