Uhhh if you make a claim you should always be prepared to back it up instead of telling others to google it for you, no matter how “common” you believe that knowledge to be. i usually expect better from this forum.
Not every claim is worth making a fuzz over, right? If someone says something that's kind of iffy or hard to believe, sure, tell them to prove that shit - but when it's something as relatively menial as "heatsinks keep computer stuff cool", then I think asking for sources is kind of a way of saying "I don't really understand the subject this argument, but I want to partake in it anyways", in which case you could start off by Googling a little bit just to make sure you got the basic understanding, instead of bothering the others about it. Feel me?
It's the job of the person making a claim to state sources. If it wasn't this way you'd have people saying crazy garbage conspiracies that they found on a nobody-website and then going "lol just google it dude". It also forces the one making a claim to have good sources. If they can't back it up with good sources, well that kind of defeats the purpose.
man i just want cool looking green and yellow motherboards again. why's everything gotta look like it just took a trip through a coal mine?
I agree for sure, but I think that when you take part in an argument, it's important to come in a bit prepared on the basics.

lmao the actual claim was about the effectiveness of the heatsinks compared to another style. that's not "heatsinks keep computer stuff cool". Heatsinks that barely function and can't cool the VRM. We need to go back to proper heatsinks with fins, not just a block of 'cool' looking metal which can't dissipate heat properly. what a strawman, I asked for sources backing up his claim that one was more effective than the other. you can quit your whining that somebody dared to want to see proof of a claim.
