Almost half of what TF2 got after the 2018 Halloween update.
Remember when people here were saying to give it a shot
When I visited the store page it prioritized a live broadcast and this is the first thing I get to see. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/110815/31bdc266-5f1a-42e8-8e7d-9b947fff7ae8/image.png

To be fair, TF2 is free
Considering Valve's numbers for their other games, including non-free ones... 56k is a BAD launch

Honestly the worst part of Valve going out like they are is that it was all on their own. They didn't have some other company jump in and ruin it like activision or something they just gave up and died.

Damn it's down to 58% positive reviews.
CS:GO launched with 52k concurrent players. Counter
It would have stayed like that if not for skins. Artifact is already microtransaction'd out.
Do you guys wanna' know two things i do not give a flying god damn fuck about? Dota and card games. Now with their powers combined i have entered a state of abstraction-zero-fuckery where the surmounting weight of my tired, descending eyebrows threaten to cave in my fucking face. I know its a tired question by now- but what the fuck happened to valve? How do you go from creating the most interesting fiction and industry-dominating gameplay to fucking around with numbered picture-cards.
Which was really bad. CS:GO only started doing well when Valve retook full control of development. Valve already has full control of Artifact.
There might not be a large CG scene here, but there is a scene, and it is large. And Valve today seems to like to capitalize on whatever genres are popular.
They wasted Source 2 on this of all things? Makes sense, use an engine they own so they keep even more profit. God I hate what Valve has turned into.
CS Go had a bizarre launch, it was just kinda jank and honestly was worth the criticism. they fixed it quickly but it was still full of weird decisions. i still think the view models are kinda terrible and look like toys
They also used in some VR gameplay elements like the Lab (Portal spinoff made by them).
I detest what they've done here but this doesn't make sense as a criticism They made an engine, and you're mad they're using it for their own products?
I have trouble believing that the fans of card games outnumber the fans of Valve's previous shooters. As a side note, I really don't understand what Valve thought to gain from this game aside further disappointing their old fanbase. I have no problem if they want to spend their time appealing to a presumably Asian market dominated card game scene, but there's no fucking way they can do this without realising how much they're insulting their core fanbase in doing so. Like, I've long since given up hope of seeing an Episode 3, and I accept this, but Valve having absolutely no presence of mind to explain to their fans why they're never making it is legitimately frustrating. Whatever. I'm so tired of seeing Valve's name anymore that I can't help but look at Artifact and just shrug my shoulders.
I think he more means that Source 2, with all its capabilities, has its first game be a genre that doesn't push its capabilities at all, unlike what they did for goldsrc and Source 1.
So if Artifact is out does that mean Source 2 is available for people to use for developing their own games now?
Isn't Dota 2 on Source 2 fully as well? Regardless, I don't think it's reasonable to demand that a company's first game release with an engine be anything in particular. I mean, we should demand that they release good games in general, and they haven't done that here, but that has nothing to do with the engine.
i remember hearing Gabe mention that mobile device support was a major component of source 2 development.
They still have the launch box from the Orange Box launch https://www.flickr.com/photos/dougvalente/1535936613/in/album-72157602359191433/lightbox/ https://i.redd.it/rwxyppc415121.jpg
Talk about reusing content smh
I swore so hard at this yesterday, when playing Dota with friends, that i could HEAR them rolling their eyes at my impotent tirade. Honestly, i feel like this game is just another nail in the coffin of the idea that Valve remotely cares about its own reputation. They're seriously doing a pay-to-win card game with no regard as to why it's going to be a shitshow that only whales will buy into.
Oi I'm that one guy here who owns the game. AMA Or just toss insults at me. Feel free.
I like that little red demon imp guy you have as an avatar what's his deal
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDWRo2Igtsg Simply iconic and creepy. I'm going to miss that fat creepy guy.
