Dota 2 has the best free2play model of any Moba game.
It's even worse that the games that sets itself apart from modern AAA games to be something unique sell poorly while copy paste live services and imitators like this will make millions
I miss the old Days of CS:S when you could just go onto any random server and play some weird server game. I guess this is kinda cool, but it feels a bit manufactured, Like it only exists because it has to not because it was a good idea kinda way. Which I suppose it was.
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/58129/605ed3d9-e56e-4c76-a210-bb3b78cdb463/5uUdX.gif It was only a matter of time. I'm surprised CS:GO is going F2P before Artifact, though.
It's max 18 players so the br map will probably be a bit larger than a typical CSGO map.
Managed to get into a game. The map is fucking tiny, first of all. Second of all, the gamemode is severely undercooked. Feels more like a community mod than a full-fletched, developed product. Not a fan.
Got some screenshots? I'll put em on the OP
I mean they started lootboxes
Nah, it took 4 minutes to even find a match and I got headshotted from behind after like 5 minutes of wandering around so I quit. Nothing about it felt right.
In a small game. TF2 went Free2play when the microtransactions came. CSGO was a 13 dollar game when skins were introduced. Between CSGO/TF2's microtransactions and Overwatch there was basically nothing. Then Blizzard came with Overwatch and showed that you can do microtransactions in 40+ dollar titles and suddenly we had an influx of loot box riddled full price games.
Cs:go is on source 2, which can handle massive maps. Like someone mapped the entirety of france and ported it to dota 2.
No it isn't.
CS:GO is not on source 2 sadly.
I wouldn't knock it before I try it. BR on csgo doesn't really interests me because I already have pubg and Blackout, but I'd try it. Hell I am gonna try it. But 18 players??...
Parts of source 2 has been ported to it, I dont know if the map asset was, but certain maps already have some of 2's effects and abilities. Nuke2 and new inferno are notable examples that valve has shown off before.
Panorama UI has been ported but that is completely different from the game itself being on "Source 2".
How does Battle Royale work in CS:GO? Wouldn't the maps be terribly small?
it wasn't all of france, it was just a part of paris
Ah yes, CS:GO has finally caught up with TF2: Going free-to-play for maximum nickel and diming of the entire playerbase, while also giving players who actually paid money for the game a shit cosmetic item that no one would pay money for.
Literally 18 player free-for-all (unless you bring a squad in with you), where everyone runs around killing eachother to be the last man standing as a larger-than-normal map gets shrunk down. I just played a match, it feels like the servers are suffering big lag, and every time a player dies all of their armor, weapons and gear just fly off of them with glowing outline colors as you clumsily try to figure out how to swap weapons and other shit. An absolutely godawful first impression, despite making it to 2nd place.
Remember when Valve made videogames instead of shitty knockoffs?
Yeah just don't do it at all if this is what they had to do to make it work tbh
so this is just like a TTT game in Gmod except everybody's killing.
Has Garrys Mod had a battle royale gamemode yet? Someone can perfect it I know it.
I just played a few rounds with a friend. As an avid (albeit mediocre at best) CS:GO player, it was interesting. It felt like we were playing CS in some parallel universe. But it is the same old CS gameplay that I like. The drones are hilarious janky though. But I think it is pretty decent, but rough around the edges and the drone mechanic as a whole is pretty unique since you can follow other player's drones and hijack their stuff. Unless you are already someone who plays a lot of CS, I can't imagine it being fun for you though.
It already was the best br game ever Ask that kid that got stuck to a wall Saw a bit from what shroud was playing... You apparently buy stuff and a drone delivers it to you? Dota 2 meets csgo fucks with pubg?

Even the Steam store can't handle these news: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/134934/b4a9ac23-6092-4570-b452-dc2ce30c6e86/2018-12-06 23_27_05-Greenshot.jpg
This is just... Why?
Played a few rounds. It has a few interesting concepts. I almost got killed by a sentry, they are in a few places, can give you ammo if you kill them. Ammo in general is pretty low, even on a bought gun. There are some doors you can open for money, some crates require a melee weapon to open, before that you punch lower tier crats. Oh yea you don't start with a weapon. Some gadgets like C4 can be used to kill campers, bunch of various grenades and medkit is also there. Seeing where everybody drops is interesting, after that you have the radar that tells you if somebody is in a hexagon, although it doesn't tell you who it is. Queue times are pretty bad, 4-6min to find a game, then after loading for 1-2min it can take another up to 2:30min to start the round if somebody doesn't connect fast. Considering a round can pretty quickly end for you thats pretty bad. Overall it very much invites to never let go of shift. So you basically just try to hide as long as possible, trying to get some stuff. Not really sure what to think of it to be honest. Map size is alright for only 16 player. Haven't played CSGO in years, my aim is more then rusty, one round had basically a guy dominating all kills, not sure how well matchmaking puts people together.
