Making money off of following trends rather than bothering trendsetting anymore. The best we I can sum up my thoughts is with this. https://media.tumblr.com/ec829531a9d38f26da62fd34177b5da3/tumblr_inline_mgjwpoiMVZ1roqm64.jpg
Literally this. I'm watching Robbaz play it right now and lord does it look dumb. It honestly looks like a gmod game mode some kids cooked up to spice up their DarkRP server.
Well I'm happy it's finally F2P even I've already bought the damn thing by this point. Though it should've gone that way years ago; Valve does not need to charge upfront considering what they make on the damn thing. Also, at least they're doing something that's not friggin' DotA-related, even if it's just chasing another industry trend. Still, Counter-Strike in general is obsolete in my eyes. To me, Rainbow Six: Siege is the culmination of the formula Counter-Strike codified; if only it ran better on my machine and post-launch operators didn't require ages of grinding to get.
The map really looks like as if CS:GO were still in 2013. Compare this map to the recent revamps of Dust 2 or Nuke. I get that the map is huge but man.
It felt really weird playing this. While I agree this needs more work, some concepts are really cool, like quests, sentries, drones.
I don't disagree with your point but arguably they were the first to popularize all of these
So it's just like Mannpower and PASS time for TF2. You forgot: hero shooter ✅ Although with TF2 and Dota 2 Valve were at least setting the trends. This and Artifact though? No excuse.
Fun fact, CS:GO engine doesn’t support model lods. This makes big open maps super laggy compared to even gmod
For all the fuckers saying this was Valve following a trend, the first reference to this mode was back in may of 2016. Before the explosion of pubg and fortnite. They were definitely influenced by the other games but they've had plans for a good couple years now.
Really you are not even grandfathered to get "CS:GO Prime Status" if you bought the game originally?
for real? now I'm not surprised why insertion was one of the most intensive maps.
To be honest the whole CSGO going free to play feels pretty late considering how much money skins have made for the game. They should've made it F2P like 2 years ago.
Wait hold up. Because of the size and player count. Did they just make an arena FFA and call it battle royale?
Watch them rename TF2's Arena mode Battle Royale and make no other changes
it's arena last man standing, know your terms
Game crashes within like, 5 minutes of being ingame. Great job as usual Valve.
Congratz you just figured out what BR is. Although the map does get smaller, thats the part that makes it BR.
Still waiting for "the nost moddable Counter-Strike game" to have mod support that was promised...
Battle Royales start off long distance and enclose closer and closer. Source can't handle the size of those kind of maps so they turned BR into an Arena Shooter Last Man Standing and decided that was close enough.
danger zone crashes in every single match for me. i have no idea why
I like this actually, not sure if its BR, but its fun. Matchmaking times killing it tho, 4 minutes to get into a game is just a bad idea All this makes me want is Source 2
AMD Graphics cards are having issues apparently, I suffer from crashes in both comp and Danger Zone, mainly when the artillery strike hits on DZ is when the crashes occur (comp is randomly crashing for me)

I think the problem is all the people willing to take risks either left or got kicked out of Valve, leaving only scummy toads and lazy bastards without original ideas.
I'm getting slight Highway 17/Lost Coast vibes from this.
imagine HL2:DM:BR
Yeah it looks 15 years old.
I'm getting 100% HL2 vibes. Like this is an HL2 map. You could convince me of that with no problem.
The foliage specifically makes me think of Ep 2. But honestly, any cs:go map with fog makes me think of half life 2 because Source and all its quirks is just ingrained into my mind at this point. You'd think they'd take this opportunity to put cs go into source 2 but I guess that's asking too much of valve.
Definitely getting HL2 vibes of some kind from this. It has the coastal elements along with the White Forest-y alpine trees and radio tower.
