i had a lot of fun so far, in a way it makes more sense for a mode like this to have like 18 players, than 100. although sometimes the initial progression is too slow
This is the addon that this map is used for (it has the base content for the map): https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=261801217 And here's the map itself: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=306834272
I'd love to find a couple of people to play Blacksite with, I really enjoy the gamemode.
Because of my low graphics options, people and terrain who stand close to the red death zone are visible through walls. And apparently people are getting this regardless of graphic options on AMD GPU's (I'm on an NVidia GPU). Great job as usual Valve!
it seems like performance is a bit of a gamble, but it runs pretty good for me (amd x4 860k & gtx 550 ti). my computer would struggle to keep steady 70 fps in new dust2, but i get 120 and up on blacksite.
I managed to play a round and it was pretty interesting. I like the constant sneaky beaky paranoid feel to it where you're trying to gather as much information as possible to sniff out the other players, as opposed to all the other games that have these big, wide-open maps. It's kind of like trying to clutch a 1vX situation, just the entire round. I've never understood the hype around all the BR games, but this one actually has some interesting mechanics that might keep me interested.
I like how the general location of players is marked out on the map, makes it nice for charging in and ambushing players if you're quick enough and they don't check the map to see you beelining it towards them
It was dope, now it just needs to die and be superseded already.
I know you're extremely knowledgeable about Source, but put it aside any modern engine and it falls flat on so many levels. The way this map looks is a testament to its limits. It's simply unfit for this.
Given how hostile valve's work enviroment can be, more than likely why it fell behind.

Try comparing Source with PBR with any other engine.
Do any Source games use PBR? Regardless, the problem here is doing larger scale stuff. Like @Da Space Core explained on page 4, Source isn't intended to be used this way.
I just launched CS:GO for the new badge. Don't really care about the update. I don't even have a skill group anymore because of the previous eSports updates that made it harder to get a higher skill group.
the Episode 3 mod Boreal Alyph from Keep Away From Fire does. Take a look: https://youtu.be/_GyBOKMvp9w
I can reliably get to second place in this new mode. And that's about it.
Titanfall 2 also uses an extremely modified version of Source, completely new toolchain. May as well call it something else. Source 2 similarly evolved from Source. The issue isn't the engine can't be modified and brought up to date (it can), it's just that Valve's version of doing that is Source 2 - and why they haven't ported CS:GO to that is very problematic, since it solves a LOT of issues CS:GO suffers from. Just straight up development would be much better on Source 2 for CS:GO, but performance, features, etc, would all get significant gains from moving to the newer (version of the) engine.

Between this and the Artifact beta release date, they have to be intentionally trolling Half-Life fans at this point. Like I said before, I'm pretty sure the series is a massive joke to most of Valve's current emoployeees - especially since nobody who worked on the game is there anymore, other than Gabe.
https://youtu.be/3154ZBFTreE Maybe Valve has granted the CS:GO devs to do a mini ARG for their own future updates? It could be just gibberish to justify the easter egg room.
Papa gulf papa -> PGP key? W50sms757ehkasltocmbdssgpamcpcuhctclrbvpfaosvsanpbjrgicbdrc If I got that right
HL fans really are desperate. I'm not judging, though, I am, too.
Apparently it got solved. https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/a4jz40/strange_broadcast_playing_on_blacksite_in_hidden/ebf79q5
Well that was disappointing
But why? Who asked for this?
I expected nothing and also got disappointed, amazing.
Remember when Valve ARGs actually teased something? Instead of just trolling the userbase?
Im curious if the number of cheaters in non prime games has increased?
Valve makes one easter egg ARG and you lot (who took no part in solving it) still manage to get mad. I'm impressed.
"everyone who's disappointed in the current state of valve is blindly following their favorite youtuber" cool video!
