All this is going to amount to is that they just wanted to do a funny haha HL3 joke yet again, except they're too out of touch to realize that over the years they've become less "funny nod haha" and more like big slaps in the community's collective face.
those "things" are buoys. Has this person never been near an shoreline?
I’m more interested in the map itself and wondering if we can get it into gmod. Seems like a good candidate for zombie role play games or survival modes. Also wonder if the levels is high enough to use air vehicles like helicopters in?
no please, i really like easter eggs and ARGs too, but i'm fearing a huge slap on the face again if we expect something important. Let's just treat it as an entertaining easter egg.
What's so strange is that Valve constantly says they look at the community. They say they have a big monitor with reddit on it and they look at it. So either they don't care about feedback at all or they're liars.
Or they come to different conclusions than you do.
I don't care, if they're just doing a "cute" Portal easter egg while being totally silent on Half-Life's 20th anniversary, fuck them.
I kinda feel sorry for the mapmakers at Valve who can't even make a new map or put in a fun easter egg without hundreds of beyond Stockholm syndrome posts coming out desperately looking for anything that's in a multiple of three and making an enormous deal out of every little self-created aspect with sudden unbound excitement for no reason despite how much they talk about hating Valve at any other time.
This is the most fun thing I played that year tbh Granted I never played BR before, but Danger Zone has an excellent sense of pacing and somehow CSGO's shooting feels really fitting.
Valve is like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory at this point

That doesn’t mean it‘s meaningless—it likely is, but not necessarily. Could be a tease, or not.

And now they've learned not to do this ever again.
Doing the most tone-deaf shit in the universe and taking it as fans hating them? Very Valve move
nope
Seems that Valve can't even put easter eggs in a game anymore without people jumping on the conclusion that it must be some big ARG. Or I guess they should just stick to some hidden spray in a corner instead of some encrypted easter egg. Kinda shows in what shitty situation Valve is with a lot of this. Partly their fault but on the other hands the fanbase got quite aggressive, if thats the fitting description.
Kinda wish for a number of ex employees to team up and make a spiritual successor at this point.
I would be all for this if Yooka-Layle didn´t turn out to be such a disappointment.
The Prey reboot actually reminded me of Half-Life more than any other game released in the last decade, even if it was intended to be a successor to System Shock. The games have similar conceits - stuck in a facility you work at with aliens run amuck; help your fellow scientists and eventually fight a military strike team sent to wipe everyone out - and some of the mechanics and enemies are similar. Mimicks feel like headcrabs 2.0, the inventory system allows you to have far more weapons and items than most modern shooters, and there is a heavy element of physics and environmental manipulation. Like I said, it borrows just as much if not more from System Shock, but nevertheless it feels like with some modification to the it could have served as a quasi-reboot of Half-Life. Probably the biggest thing it would have needed is better enemy variety; that's the one place where the game absolutely pales compared to Valve's game. But then, most games these days lack the incredible enemy variety and that Half-Life has, so I'm not shocked Prey couldn't measure up.
we need ricochet 2 now more than ever
