Admittedly after DA:O the only reason I ever played BioWare games was to fuck but it is nice to have some other reason to play a game I guess.

He's talking about the potential sequels though. It's most likely that Obsidian owns the IP. Any potential sequels will certainly be on Microsoft platforms only.
Not Borderlands.
It'd be kind of silly to release the original game on all platforms and then lock it away with subsequent sequels.
Microsoft isn't going to release games on their competitors platform.
why should i recycle, i mean im just one person so what's the harm?
I guess, we saw it with Bayonetta so I dunno.
Don't be an idiot. Preorders are a matter purely on ethics, not one driven by physical, non-renewable resources being used up.
Seeing it run on capable engine is enough for me to have a nerdgasm, the things you had to do to "fix" and "adjust" and make the crusty old ass engine of Fallout 4 and Skyrim behave to be atleast somewhat modern, I could excuse most of the story of FO4 and the not so polished game mechanics in both games for their moddability and their decent open worlds. But the engine, dear god, how I have spent hours dealing with INI's, third party injectors, overlays, CTDs etc. If TOW has what it promises I will be gladly on board, guaranteed buy.
Hopefylly it doesn't have the horrible inventory menus made for consoles like fallout and skyrim.
Unpopular opinion apparently: I don't really think this is the kind of game you really need to worry about when it comes to pre-order culture. Don't get me wrong- I get why people are against pre-ordering shit because I'm of exactly the same opinion with the vast majority of games. Usually the only bonus that will get me to pre-order a game is a price reduction because I'm broke as fuck so I have to take any opportunity to save money while still enjoying my hobby. Otherwise- I'm going to wait and see what the game is actually like before buying it. Pre-ordering AAA games is a fucking terrible idea because it encourages devs to slap a recognisable brand name on something, rush it out as broken crap and then maybe fix it later, but not really, because they already have your money. However, The Outer Worlds looks more like "AA" game. The devs have clearly got a niche audience in mind- and they probably understand the need to deliver what that audience wants in order to succeed. It doesn't look like the usual AAA cash-grab, I'm a huge fan of Obsidian's previous work, and I feel like they could do with the support. If mindlessly pre-ordering whatever bland trash the industry sharts out encourages them to continue taking the piss, then I'd rather pre-order something fresh and interesting in the hope it has the opposite effect. If I'm wrong and the game is broken or bad, I will just refund it on steam. No skin off my balls.
There's a real possibility that this game will suck dick and balls when it comes out.
Developers provide the option to pre-order and offer XYZ as benefits for buying it. Some people find XYZ to be worth a pre-order. You do not find it to be so. This does not give you the right to get pissy with others for their own decisions. They're allowed to pre-order games if they want to.
Have they said anything about modding? Because that's a big consideration.
Buying a product before knowing it it's even fit for sale is, pretty broadly, a bad idea. People can't do whatever they want with their money, but I think it's totally fair game to call out participating in practices that harm consumers at large. If nobody pre-ordered then putting money up-front wouldn't be rewarded with carrot-on-stick (taken from what all other customers should get anyway) like it is these days. Wait. For. Reviews.
As I said, If the game is broken or bad I can just refund it. Preordering games was a much much worse idea before steam refunds.
yeah if the games on steam then pre-ordering it really isn't much of a problem, given I can refund it. But pre-ordering it isn't something I'm going to do, because it's a digital release, it's not like they'll run out.
Weirdly enough, given the pedigree, I'm fully expecting the game to be broken on release. But also given the pedigree, it'll probably still be worth it.
